Sally's Overlong Guide to the Radio 1 Breakfast Show Team
I have noticed that I have a few fans or potential fans of the Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw on my flist, and as a result I was inspired to make a quick guide to the team.
It then took on a life of its own.... Sorry everyone XD
The Radio 1 Breakfast Show broadcasts on Radio 1 every weekday morning between 6.30 and 10am and its webpage can be found HERE. It mixes lots of music with chat, silly games, phone ins, interviews with celebrities and other random things. It's also presented and produced by an awesome group of people who basically make my morning :D
First of all we have Nick Grimshaw, the presenter of the Radio 1 Breakfast Show. (Twitter: grimmers).
When he's not looking incredibly hot and serious, Nick Grimshaw (also known as 'Grimmy', also known as NICHOLAS to his producer and radio-husband, Matt Fincham) is a ridiculous human being who dyes his hair pink for charity and spends a lot of time with a sausage dog called Thurston. Sometimes he combines both these things.
He only drinks the night before a show if it's 'culturally relevant' and he is friends with approximately 80% of London. He's also obsessed with popstars, especially One Direction, but he doesn't like to go on about it.
Through his extensive radio and television work, he has also built up a distant but professional relationship with One Direction singer Harry Styles.
Once Nick and Harry Styles presented the Breakfast Show while hungover/drunk off their arses (delete as appropriate). It was one of the greatest moments in radio history.
When he's not presenting the Radio 1 Breakfast Show, Nick likes to do things like watch reality television, go to gigs, sing karaoke, and spit water in people's faces on Innuendo Bingo to hilarious effect.

This is Matt Fincham, the producer of the Breakfast Show and Nick Grimshaw's radio husband (Twitter: mattfincham).
Matt Fincham (also known as 'Finchy', also known by his rap name Finchy Stryder) used to work on the Chris Moyles Show, but since last summer he's worked on Grimmy's show and you can tell he's much happier for it.
Matt Fincham's job includes overseeing production, holding meetings, and trying to be on time for the news - in which he is fully supported by Nick Grimshaw.
The morning Nick Grimshaw and Harry Styles turned up drunk to do the Breakfast Show was one of the happiest of his career and he often thinks of it with great fondness.
Matt Fincham has a First Class degree from Cambridge, plays the piano, and enjoys confounding stereotypes by also working as a house (deep, funky, electro, progressive), bass and dub DJ in London with his friend James Garside.
Yo.
He also enjoys educating children about science through the Power of Song.
On the show, he and Nick enjoy a complex relationship filled with touching banter like MY OFFICE. NOW. and DON'T MAKE ME COME ROUND THERE. Tragically, despite hints, song dedications, and dubious twitter hacks
...the tale of Nick Grimshaw and Matt Fincham remains one of the great unrequited love stories of our time.
But that has never stopped Nick trying.
This is Laura May Coope (also known as LMC, also known by her rap name Run LMC), Social Media Producer for the Radio 1 Breakfast Show (Twitter: lauramaycoope)
LMC is the patron saint of the Breakfast Show fandom and has been described as ‘the digital power behind Nick Grimshaw’s breakfast throne’.
LMC loves us.
And we love her.
Sometimes we think we can't actually love LMC more and LMC takes that as a personal challenge.

Once upon a time, LMC ran out of twitter characters and accidentally offended the combined fandoms of One Direction, JLS and The Wanted in what she called 'one of the worst days of her life'.
But we don't like to talk about that.
When not running the show’s twitter account and posting things to her tumblr, LMC contributes to surprisingly interesting podcasts about the future of 'innovative radio', discussing how she masterminded the Breakfast Show's online presence and saying things like,
‘Rather than building an audience, building a fandom is an entirely different business and that’s what I wanted to achieve’
And
‘Quite often I will think - what would Beyoncé do?’
Wise words for us all to live by.
LMC would like to have Zayn Malik of One Direction fame in the studio ‘for the aesthetics’ and Sir David Attenborough said he liked her face. Probably because she is so classy.
LMC and Nick Grimshaw get on particularly well and do adorable things like studio yoga,
...planning romantic breaks together.
And hanging around London looking adoring/drunk (depending on who you're looking at).
If that wasn't enough to make you an LMC fan for life, she is also the Missy Elliot of North London.
This is Ian Chaloner (also known by his rap name Ichal), assistant producer of the Breakfast Show (Twitter: ichaloner).
Ian doesn’t have to come in until 8am because he works later than everyone else. He was once up for Best Male Presenter at the 2006 Student Radio Awards along with a certain Greg James (wonder what happened to him?) and in his spare time he enjoys running and looking more adorable than adorable sausage dogs.
Ian was the only person who was entirely sober the morning after the Brit Awards. Or, to quote a Breakfast Show liveblogger,
Ian is that sober bitch who walks into his friend’s living room after showering and cooking breakfast to find everyone lying passed out in their own drool and vomit.
I think you’ll agree they have a point.
Don’t let the pout fool you though, Ian is fully prepared to keep the others in line.
And in return he has their love and support - even in his most trying professional moments.
Ian is a reluctant Belieber who was once chased out of Justin Bieber’s hotel by three burly security men. It’s a long story, but this is probably all you need to know about it.
Some people ship Ian and Nick together, but I don't really know what they're basing that on.
In conclusion,
This is Fiona Hanlon (also known as Fifi, also known by her rap name MC Hanlon), assistant-producer of the Radio 1 Breakfast Show (Twitter: fionaradio).
Fiona may work on a somewhat chaotic radio breakfast show but Fiona is not here for any of your bullshit and will tune you out when necessary to do her job because she is a professional.
Sometimes people donate meat bouquets to the studios for a laugh and Fiona has to go down to Reception and collect them. She is not really here for that either.
You are the only one laughing, meat bouquet lady
Fiona goes to bed earlier than everyone else on the team and wears Christmas jumpers in March because she is hardcore. She even has beef with Azealia Banks.
Don’t make the mistake of thinking Fiona is boring though because she absolutely is not (and the fandom may beat you up for saying so, or just passive aggressively bombard you with sad smileys). We love Fiona and this video will make you love her too.
When Fiona isn’t doing important production things and imitating movie stars, she enjoys texting her colleagues to advise them on suitable clothing for the early morning weather conditions and attempting to take candid photos of Nick Grimshaw in a coffee shop so she can sell them to Heat Magazine for £200.
