Summary: Modern AU set in the menswear department of a large store (and shamelessly based on my own part time job at BHS during my A Levels where weekend menswear was always ridiculously quiet and staffed by a team of two). 17 year old Arthur is the ( Read more... )

*flails* I really love your writing. It never fails to make me happy and it's so satisfying to read. <3

Oh, his dimples. Arthur running away (I don't think I'll ever get tired of that).

Fortunately Merlin could be relied upon not to understand the subtle nuances of Arthur’s Feelings.

The lament of all fangirls men!

Merlin was wearing a hooded sweatshirt that made him look both edible and homeless...

That is the best and most accurate description ever. EVER.

Arthur would probably propose.

I heartily approve of this.

“Have fun!” Morgana called out, like the man eater she was.

*g* Arthur, you loveable dolt.

So much love for Philip! <3

Oh, their kiss! And Merlin taking charge and slamming Arthur up on the shelving! And him being determined to keep on kissing Arthur inside. Yes. I'm so glad Merlin is brilliant in all things to do with dating Arthur here. Goodness knows Arthur would never have got anywhere by himself, poor thing.

AUGH, I LOVED THIS SO MUCH. 6000+ WORDS OF PURE JOY. PURE JOY. <333

Awww thank you so much for this lovely comment!! IT IS INDEED THE LAMENT OF ALL FANGIRLS. Damn it, WE can see the love, why can't they??

Merlin is an EXPERT on dating Arthur - it's all about Stealth, Determination and Eternal Optimism in the face of Grumpy Oblivion. Merlin likes to think opening lots of car doors for Arthur helped too, as his mother always says, good manners cost nothing and you should always treat your date well (even if they don't know that they are in fact your date). And then when all else fails, slam them up against the shelving ;) Even Arthur Pendragon can't miss that clue.

:D Glad you liked Philip!! I fell slightly in love with him, I think it was just the name Philip for a guinea pig, it never ceases to amuse me.

Anyway thank you for commenting!! I'm really happy you enjoyed it so much :D :D

I have a great fondness for prickly Arthur and enthusiastic Merlin, and this is just a prime example of them. :D I lost count of the number of times I laughed (though I think my favourite funny moments were Arthur showing up as Scrooge - and Merlin not letting him - and him completely misinterpreting Merlin's comment that he was 'hot').

I have such a huge smile on my face right now - thank you for that! :o)

You're welcome :D I'm happy you enjoyed it!! I adore prickly Arthur and enthusiastic Merlin too, especially an enthusiastic Merlin who will not be daunted, no matter how much of a grumpy git Arthur is (not that Arthur's grumpiness is all that convincing when he's giving Merlin his last Kit Kat).

Thank you for reading and commenting!! :D

Oh wow that was just bloody adorable, sometimes I do worry about Arthur and his complete lack at seeing what's right in front of his face :P

This was so fun and sweet and utterly lovely left me smiling and that is always good :)

Arthur would be completely hopeless without Morgana to laugh at him, and Merlin to take matters into his own hands (and Gwen to keep ordering more rubber bands) ;)

Anyway, I'm glad you liked it, and that it left you smiling - that's always the best response :D :D

You would have to sneak him away I think! Arthur may be oblivious, but he's not THAT oblivious (and anyway, its his supervisory duty to make sure his staff are not abducted by fangirls, otherwise I would have been there first ;))

Thank you so much for your comment!! And for the rec too :D I'm really pleased the kiss worked for you, even though it was distinctly PG at best. I just can't seem to write anything more explicit than that, even when I try :( But I did like the image of Merlin just dragging him into the changing rooms, and I suspect he will do that a few more times yet... As for the bowling... Arthur would blame Merlin completely for that and just gloss over the fact Morgana has always beaten him. Along with Uther and their aged Aunt Elaine that one time.

I'm sure I will write more modern AUs yet, I do love writing them both with all the extra freedom (and embarrassing Donny Osmond tunes) the modern world provides ;)

Thanks again for reading!!
