These two fics remind me that the show has really strayed from what was one of its strengths when it started - characters caring for each other and actually having some sort of genuine relationship.

There was a connection between them before that I miss; now they are IMO closer to strangers who are brought together by a great destiny, but otherwise live their lives (or lies?) each almost completely separately.

So thank you. (And I'm not even too fond of M/G, but this was great to satisfy my craving for a more sensible, friendly relationship in the show. :))

Aww, these ficlets were really nice. :) I really do miss the Merlin/Gwen friendship on the show. It would have been great if there had been a scene in "The Crystal Cave" episode like the one you wrote. I think it would have fit nicely within the episode. And the first one where Merlin is learning to sew under Gwen's guidance -- aww, what a cute scene. I enjoyed Arthur's commentary there about what he thought of Merlin.

I am glad that there are still Merlin/Gwen friendship scenes on the show, but it does feel like the friendship was more prominent in S1. It's like they're finding it hard to include friendship scenes between them post-S1. :(

Awwww...there really should be more Gwen/Merlin friendship in the show. I do like it when they're running around solving Camelot's problems together.

I love the first one to bits. That scene seen thru Arthur's eyes is so adorable. Of course, Merlin isn't useless! Arthur needs to realize this in the show too.

+ of course i totally agree with you - i'll probably never be able to ship g/a, but gwen/merlin friendship makes my heart grow three sizes. i'm so happy they put a little bit of that back into the show, it felt they forgot all about it in season2 ...
