Actually, family is nothing more than a bloodline unless you have something to substantiate it otherwise. If your "family" treats you poorly and doesn't give you the respect and unconditional love that any other human being deserves, then they are NOT all you have in the world. The people that care for you, love you, will be there for you no matter what you may do, right or wrong, and will never abandon you when you are at your worst time...THOSE people are your real family.

i don't know who you are...but i completely agree with you. my parents pushed me off on my godparents and didn't give a damn about me when i was little. it wasn't until my dad told me he was dying did i ever forgive them. my godparents are the only family i know. i love my real parents because they're my parents...but they're not my family. that's a title you have to earn. my godparents would NEVER disown me for being gay. they would never kick me out of the house b/c i smoke and whatnot. it doesn't matter what i do...they will ALWAYS be there for me when no one else is there. it doesn't mean that they like what i do...or approve of it, but they'll never let that get in the way of them showing me they love me. prime example...my godmother is a die-hard republican. i voted for john kerry. she told me that she just wanted me to vote and that she was proud of me for taking such an interest in our country. my dad, however, said that kerry was full of shit and we would be going to hell in a handbasket if i voted for him. now...who's filled
