It brings me endless joy and amusement that such a theme exists.

I don't remember how I subscribed to these emails. I've been getting them forever. I think you can just sign up at awordaday.com but I might be mistaken.

Today's word was "pleach".

The site you were referring to is part of WordSmith.org but there are plenty of other such services. TFD happens to have an RSS feed for it, which I'd think more practical than a whole email.
