I feel that my step mom places a lot of emphasis on the success of myself and my younger sister because she thinks that it makes her look bad that we are both no where near the level of our peers in terms of independence and whatnot. Hell, the first words out of her mouth when she sees you is never hello and always some criticism of one's clothing or makeup or SOMETHING other than being loving and caring.
Around this age, we start to see our parents as people. They are just as flawed as we are, if not more so! In that case, I would try to look beyond how your mother feels and just ignore it when she brings it up.
i know how you feel, my mumma and dad are the same. my mumma is easier to be with... shes always sympathetic and cleans my wounds and gets my meds when i can't afford them. my dad focuses on the negative...somedays he is proud of me, and somedays he isn't - and lets me know that. he either blames himself or blames me... mumma has always been my rock though. even when shes had the dreaded D word, shes still been here for me. i can't afford to come to stoke at the moment, but maybe in the begining of june i can if you're still there? we could go light shopping and for tea and cake somewhere? xxx
