injury fail

Feb 15, 2012 12:57

well, I'd kinda assumed my knee thing wasn't that bad since I've more or less just been able to walk around for a day or two. Instead, a trip to the doctor's appointment reveals that I might have a torn meniscus in my left knee and I need an MRI. Also, I now get to be on crutches again until the MRI, which means I will be on crutches in vegas.

I was able to walk around, albeit with a limp, on a partially torn ACL and MCL with meniscus damage. My range of motion decreased over time, however.

Ouch. Good luck with all that. Are they actually requiring you to use crutches until the MRI outer is that just a function of how it feels?

I had my right knee scoped some number of years ago, which wasn't too bad an experience as far as that goes.

I've been walking around on it for the last week because it didn't hurt that much, which was probably a dumb move.

Hopefully it just turns out to be an acute meniscal tear, in which case you'd just need to "RICE" it (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) and/or get physiotherapy. If it's more complicated, then yeah, probably arthroscopic surgery/meniscectomy, which is thankfully a common procedure and has you back to normal before long.

Hang in there, Jess!

Sorry to hear that. Would you like to be anchored to a table near the exit, Jesse, for all your games?

naw, I'm pretty much mobile. as long as I have somewhere to stash the crutches I'll be fine.
