Do you want to be hosted on someone else's domain or buy your own domain? If you want to be hosted on someone's domain, just ask someone who's offering hosting :) If you want to buy a domain I suggest godaddy.com for the domain name and surpasshosting.com for the hosting. Cheap and AWESOME, IMO. They're who I've used for 2 years and they're both awesome.

And for ftp, try ws_ftp. It's an Islip (I think?) program, and it's pretty simple once you get it up. I'll try and find the link to download it. It's free. You can also just search for FTP programs on download.com

Good luck! I love your stuff :)

Oh, and I forgot to add... I know you don't know me, but if you'd like hosting on in0rganic.org (my domain), I'm taking hostees sicne I don't currently have any and am not using my space at all. If you know someone else who you'd rather work with, that's cool too, just thought I'd offer in case :)

Hosting is like... where you store all your stuff, what actually shows up. When I buy hosting from surpass, it's purchasing disk space and server use and all that. The domain is just what points to the space on that server. So, maggiesmash.com (cute name, btw!) would point to the stuff that's on your host. When you buy the domain, you have to enter dns information (provided by your hosting) which just tells the domain exactly what server, etc, to point to.

With some companies, you can get a hosting package that includes domain registration and all that. But you have to be careful because sometimes those packages don't include FTP access and stuff. With surpass, I have more space and bandwidth than I will probably EVER use, and I'm on the cheapest plan -- 5 bucks a month or 50 for a year, if the prices haven't gone up since I bought my package. And the customer service is good

Good luck :)

I use tinyhosts.com -- they have a super spiffy combo package for $34 a year (includes your domain registration). If you stay for a year, the domain is yours forever. If you leave before the full year is up, then you have to pay extra for the domain.

I've only ever had downtime twice -- once was in august when servers crashed in europe (or something) and once just the other day (but I think that was my own computer blocking things, dunno).

If you're using Firefox there's a neat FTP extension that's completely free. If not, then Fetch is good.
