The other night we saw the 42nd Street Moon production of "Sugar," the Broadway stage musical version of the 1959 movie "Some Like it Hot." I was doubtful going in, but highly amused by the most excellent performance, and recommend it to those of you who like this sort of thing.

One which I sadly acknowledge will probably never be written is on the importance of Al Capone as a patron of the arts. He did, indeed, like Italian opera, but more importantly, he gave employment to countless jazz musicians.
Today, one of Chicago's foremost jazz venues, The Green Mill, birthplace of the poetry slam, where they will throw you out for talking while the band is playing, was a Capone favorite. Its folklore is very much alive.
