The night was, balmy, with a warm breeze blowing the light curtains gently into the bedroom. Jensen Ackles sat in an oversized chair to the side of the balcony doors that they had left open to try and generate some sort of air into the too warm room. Taking a deep drag of the cigarette in his hand he sighed contentedly and revelled in the gentle breeze now caressing his bare legs. Blowing out on another sigh, a rustle from the bed drew his attention from the night sounds outside, and over to the bed where Jared lay sleeping.
His hair was nothing but a tumble of waves and bangs as they fell in complete disarray over the sleeping man’s face, or what he could see of it. Jared lay on his stomach, arms hugging the pillow his head rested on and the lightest of sheets barely covering his ass. The moonlight cast a soft glow on the bed and like something out of a dream Jared lay illuminated as he snuggled down into the pillow, content and completely oblivious to the perusal of the other man as he watched Jared. His slanted cat like eyes were now closed in sleep and his face totally relaxed, as the corner of his mouth tilted upwards in a quick smile making Jensen grin as well and he could only guess at the pleasant dream Jared was having.
His eyes drifted downward over Jared’s tousled hair, across broad shoulders, and onto the muscles in his arms as they hugged the pillow, drifting down to the narrow waist and the rounded shape of his ass beneath the sheet, no one who looked him could deny the younger man was incredibly beautiful. But that wasn’t what had Jensen’s heart swelling in his chest. Jared loved him, even now, several months after hearing those words coming from Jared’s mouth, his eyes shining with such devotion, he had to pinch himself.
He had the love of this wonderful, beautiful, lively, fun loving, lovable man and sometimes he felt like he should be down on his knees thanking god or whoever it was that brought Jared into his life. He smiled at his own goofiness as he recalled a song that seemed to fit how he felt right this minute, how he felt every time he looked at the man who looked back at him like everything began and ended with him. Feeling all kinds of stupid, but also not being able to help himself he pulled the guitar that was never far away, up onto his lap and soon enough the easy laid back sound of the guitar mingled with the other night sounds that drifted in from the outside.
As he played the tune that was running through his head softly, he quietly began to sing the words that at this moment felt so right:
It was no accident me finding you
Someone had a hand in it
Long before we ever knew
Now I just can't believe you're in my life
Heaven's smilin' down on me
As I look at you tonight
I tip my hat to the keeper of the stars
He sure knew what he was doin'
When he joined these two hearts
I hold everything
When I hold you in my arms
I've got all I'll ever need
Thanks to the keeper of the stars
Soft moonlight on your face oh how you shine
It takes my breath away
Just to look into your eyes
I know I don't deserve a treasure like you
There really are no words
To show my gratitude
So I tip my hat to the keeper of the stars
He sure knew what he was doin'
When he joined these two hearts
I hold everything
When I hold you in my arms
I've got all I'll ever need
Thanks to the keeper of the stars
It was no accident me finding you
Someone had a hand in it
Long before we ever knew
He smiled as he finished singing, looking over and seeing that Jared hadn’t woken. He had simply fallen onto his back the sheet now twisted and teasing Jensen with how it just barely covered him, allowing him just a hint of what lay beneath. He quietly put the guitar aside and silently crossed the room to stand at the side of the bed and watched as Jared slept on, peaceful and oblivious to the watchful gaze of the older man. His head now was turned to the side, facing Jensen, his hair falling into eyes that remained closed, one arm under the pillow he lay on and the other resting lightly on his stomach.
Jensen smiled again and finally gave into the urge he had felt since Jared had turned in his sleep. Placing both hands lightly on either side of Jared’s body he leaned down and lightly ran his mouth down over the lines that ran from his hips and disappeared under the sheet below. He licked his way down one side and moved over to work his way back up, his mouth nothing more than a suggestion on the heated skin beneath. Peeking up to Jared’s face, he saw the tell tale signs of him drifting toward wakefulness and leaned back, giving him a few minutes to shift slightly in his sleep and drift under again.
He wanted more, he wanted to touch and taste and remind himself once again that this man was his. Climbing into the bed he lay on his side one hand tucked under his head, a soft smile playing on his lips, one hand lightly skimming down those same lines that Jensen swore existed just to tease him, especially when Jared insisted on wearing nothing but low slung Jeans or sweatpants. Raising his face to Jared’s sleeping one he lightly kissed him, a murmured “I love you” falling from his lips as he pulled away to lay his head on Jared’s chest.
The sleepy “I love you too” startled his head back up and he looked into tired but loving eyes and a smile that only Jensen saw, the one Jared reserved just for him. The one that told him he wasn’t the only one who thanked his lucky stars every day. Jared raised his head and kissed Jensen, a lingering kiss, before falling back onto the pillow, gently guiding Jensen’s head back onto his chest and Jensen felt himself wrapped in those strong arms as he began to drift towards sleep.
“Ya know, if you want to sing to me, you could do in daylight hours man.”
Jensen chuckled softly as he felt Jared’s lips touch the top of his head briefly, and as he dozed, gently heading towards a deep sleep. He heard Jared’s whisper;
“Someone was lucky alright, it was me.”
