National (POS) Novel-Writing Month

Have any of you fine people heard about National Novel-Writing Month? Apparently, the goal is to churn out as many 175-page novels at the end of November as possible - it's all about quantity, not quality. That, quite frankly, scares the living shit out of me. I'm all for NaNoWriMo, as long as the "writers" don't get the impression that the rest of the planet actually gives a fuck about the crap they spew out.

I never understood the hype about it, really. I guess "writing a novel" is on everyone's list of things they want to do before dying, and this is supposed to help the average idiot accomplish it.

I guess I'm lucky, as I'm not on my deathbed, and I've written a novel. I've made it my duty to get the bastard at least sold for publication by the end of 2007. No more fuckin' around for me.

...and no, I didn't write it in one month. :)
