I played guitar on and off for many years. I wanted to "be a musician." Since then, I've worked as a graphic designer, written a published article, thrown fabulous parties, and collected art. In my experience, all of those things qualify me as "being a musician."

Being a writer is not always about writing. And writing is not always about being a writer. Relax. Enjoy as many forms of expression as you can. And if you don't feel like writing at this point, then simply don't. You'll inevitably tell your stories one way or another.

Just a thought.

I know we've always been more friends of friends than actual friends, but I also haven't had very many people to hang out with since I've been back. A lot of people I used to hang out with have graduated and moved elsewhere, and those who are still here have other stuff going on in their life.

If you ever want to hang out and play WII at your place or DDR at mine, I would be up for it. Jeff has my numbers. :) And my IM is crc178

I know what you mean about the returning home thing, I'm not really looking forward to it all that much come the end of March, especially since I've gotten so used to living in the city and not depending on people. (I don't drive (yet) so it's virtually impossible for me to get anywhere unless I can get a lift from someone)

Also, I like the title of your journal and I'm looking forward to hearing from you more. And your friend Walter sounds really cool.

The name of my blog, of course, comes from the Bowie song. In a stroke of cosmic something or other, I was born on a Thursday to boot.

Don't deserve your new friends? What did you do, come by them dishonestly? Are they in fact stolen goods? For shame, sir -- think how this will affect the Legend of Magus! If you don't mind my asking, what exploits have been ascribed to you anyway?

As for writing, I think the best advice I can give comes from Desmond Child: "don't be afraid to suck." And he meant it, too -- that man has co-written just about every Aerosmith and Bon Jovi hit ever recorded. And I own two Aerosmith albums, so I know something about sucking myself -- just look at the comics I make! But I'll never get better unless I keep trying, so I keep at it. Maybe it'd help to just pick random topics, or ask others to give you topics? If nothing else you'll get practice at the craft of writing, so when your ideas come you'll be able to do them justice. Just a thought, anyway.

You can't hang out with me because you're not cool enough to live in Middle of Fucking Nowhere, NY, but feel free to AIM me whenever -- I'm already at the computer from 9-6 anyway!

I'm not afraid to suck I'm just tired of doing it. You know, with the writing that is.

I haven't heard stories in so much as I meet people and they say, "Oh, I've heard of you." Makes me wonder just what they've heard.

One thing I was always surprised by was how many people you knew in State College. I'll never forget the time Mike Ristey went shuffling past my room, stopped, turned around, and said "...Charlie??!" Maybe it's because so many people know you that you get mentioned often? Or perhaps your sexual harassment of Jeff (LAWSUIT PENDING) has finally achieved mythic status? For those of you reading, don't worry -- this was the good kind. You know. And hey, do you have any of your recent writing up somewhere? I'm curious to see.
