Hungarian Easter Eggs / Hímestojás

Hello, everyone! Have any of you been making the eggs this year? Do any of you have family photos that you would like to share of hímestojás you've made in the past?

Here is a great webpage, first in Magyarul then English, about our traditional egg-decorating customs.

There are a lot of recent(!) videos on Youtube of the locsolás custom. Of course, being Youtube, things that either make one laugh or are found to be shocking are posted in high frequency... meaning the version of locsolás with whole buckets of (cold) water. :/ Um, it's not the easiest thing to explain to my friends from outside Magyar culture, here in the Canadian West. They look at me like I'm crazy. They probably would be slightly alarmed if they saw a locsolás video, and bad jokes would ensue... Sigh.

Anyways, I came across some ridiculous locsolás videos on Youtube that involved a slow-motion capture of the water hitting the victim, then it reversed in slow-motion and repeated several times that way. It was so unexpected. Like really, who would do that? Only someone else with a big sense of humour, I would expect! (XD And I'm sure that the URL was eventually passed to the featured "withering flower"... once she'd become a submicro-celebrity. *snicker*
