An Open Mini Letter to Shahrukh Khan

Oct 22, 2011 16:54

All my reading life, I have encountered open letters in the print media. I don’t know if they achieve any purpose. But they are interesting. So I thought I should also have a go at an open letter. These days, who has the time to read letters? Hence I’m settling for a mini letter.

Dear Shahrukh Khan,

We got the point. You are releasing "RA. One" on Deepavali. We all know it now. Yes, firmly etched in our collective memory -- "RA. One" is a Deepavali release.

You want to entertain us. You have made investments in technology that you will recover from other films. There is a breezy song 'Chammak Challo'. Apart  from this, you are not telling why I should spend the time and money of me and my family to watch your movie.

Your carpet bombing of the airwaves on so many channels, before a program, in the program, and after the program is just not  giving any additional insights why I should watch "RA. One". You know what, I will wait for word of mouth feedback.

Next time, you may want to temporarily start a TV channel just for the release of your movie and do round-the-clock promotion only on that channel. We will be able to watch our regular programs as usual. Please consider my suggestion.

Best Regards,
