Mahler

Mahler really goes all the way in expressing himself. How many others here like Bruckner, do others know that there are others lesser know in the time and place lesser know? I heard about them but never heard them. How many masterpieces are left unheard. Bach, Beethoven and Mahler I would say are the most expressive in classical, though I like ( Read more... )

I have never heard Davis' Bruckner 7. I have Jochum and Karajan -- of which I prefer Jochum. Most of my Sibelius recordings are Davis though, and those are great...

i hate bruckner, but am very partial to richard strauss. same orchestral style, but less imaginative and 'deep' than mahler, i find. and we can't forget schönberg's five orchestral pieces. the second and third..totally brilliant.

I'll second the Strauss. I haven't heard any Bruckner, but from what I've heard about him, I don't imagine I'd like his work all that much.
