Cheese making sounds hard! Maybe in a year or two, I'll feel experienced enough to try. Have you tried it, yet?

My dh and kids are going to be away for the weekend, so I may take the opportunity to try making some root beer. I'm a bit scared of exploding bottles, since the weather is FINALLY hot, but I'll probably just check the brew at 24, 36, and 48 hrs just to be on the safe side.

I'd also like to try my hand at sourdough breads, but I read through The Bread Maker's Apprentice, and despite the clear step-by-step instructions, I found the very idea of sourdough bread making very intimidating. Maybe by next year...

This is how easy one type of cheese is. (And if you like Indian food, this is a great start to making your own saag paneer.) You can get way more complicated, but generally speaking, most everything else is variations on that.

we go through insane amounts of fruit here. I know for a fact that 10 lb of cherries is about 2-3 days worth. this is why I want to plant several kinds of fruit trees!
