Oh, that would be truly wonderful. But until people learn to divorce the deviation of political liberation theology from true church teaching, than wonderful social justice saints from SA, like Fr. Romero, are going to be tough to canonize. Unfortunately it is very much like the way that the Religious Right has claimed Christianity as its own, and politicized our faith. Or the way Christians determine their "brand" of Christianity by their political leanings.
It would be taken as an endorsement by the Church of the deviation that has popularly become liberation theology. And currently, liberation theology has become a political ideal separated from the importance of liberation from the slavery of sin.
