I also like the idea of him becomming human again, but I don't know the rules involved. It must be rare.

Well, they say that a vampire has to die the final death doing a good deed to become mortal again. But not many go for it it because vampirism erodes the humanity, and you only get one chance.
Also, it's said that various potions and whatnot exist that can make a vampire human again for just one day.
But nathan's not a vampire. He's a revenant. A ghost. His only hope is probably just to released from his existence, without the conscience of killing any more people than he already has.
But he can't help it sometimes.
What I'm getting at is that he's both fundamentally evil and good simultaneously. He's crittically flawed at the root and I don't want either side to win out ultimately. Each side requires him to live, or at least remain, to act out it's desires.
