Thank you! I love it and wish I got the chance to do Ghawazee style more often. I am planning to train up my Qamari ladies over here so we can do some Ghawazee style improv and choreography, but it will take a while :)
Hey girl - thanks! I was fortunate enough to get this one from Alexandria in California, so was made by the same family that made them for the Maazin sisters. :) I will be making some similar ones for my dancers here based on how this one was made, but the one pictured here is the real deal. :)
Oooh ! I have a trick for that from a friend of mine. She sews tiny fishing weights in the hems of her skirts to give them the weight to fly. You don't want to put too much weight, but her skirts fly like crazy and she was using fabric fringe, so it doesn't have the weight to fly on its own.
I *think* it would. I have seen her use it on a-line and circle skirts as well as her Ghawazee (which I think is gored) and it seems to always work. I keep thinking I should try it, but I never think of it when I am actually somewhere I could buy the weights to try it out. If you give a try, let me know how it turns out!

I wish my skirt would do that. Stupid lack of beading. ONE DAY I will make a real one!
