I suggest you start looking into apartments now, rather than May. You don't want to deal with the same situation that you're in right now, and find out that the places you've been approved at don't have what you want available.

Every time I've tried looking early, I've received the high-pressure "we're looking for someone now, if you can move in the next two weeks we can lock that in." Noone ever wants to pre-book their place and leave it sitting empty for a month or three.
