No more smoking in pubs.

I really hate this country at times, what a crappy nanny state, what is wrong with personal choice.

It's a complete ban in all public enclosed places; see http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4714992.stm

I do agree with Glyn, I don't smoke, but drinking and smoking go hand in hand, that's the way it's always been. I agree that smoking should be banned in Restaurants, but not pubs, that's just silly, I know of a few people that will not bother going out to pubs/clubs anymore because of this ban. Like Glyn said, if you don't like smokey environments, stay the fuck away!

The point is; where will it stop, next thing will be a ban on driving your car, exhaust fumes are just as dangerous, or loud music bans as loud music is bad for your health, this country is slowly turning into a communist state. The so called 'voluntary' national ID card is another step towards that, but its not really voluntary as the next time you need to renew your passport, you will need to buy a national ID card, with your life story on it. I for one don't like the way this country is going, how long will it be before we are not allowed the right to free speech? It's all heading towards the 'big brother nation'.

All in favour here and I don't smoke - I love going to teh increasing number of restaurants that don't allow smoking.

It isn't personal issue - my smoke affects everyone including staff who have very little choice.

Banning smoking would be different - don't think it will affect numbers either - many people don't go out as it is smokey in pubs and as even the highest smoking age group - 18-21 is only about 33% smoke.
