Ask whether you can talk to other people who have left their animals there. Check whether they had health problems after they visited, whether they got fleas. For dogs, ask about whether they got kennel cough. Did the boarding place feed them their own food, or generic meals? If the animal gets medication, did it seem to the owners that the medicine was administered appropriately? Do they have a monitoring system that allows you to look in on your animal via the internet? What exercise do the animals get? Who will sit with the animal and provide snuggles?
Can you check at your dojo whether there's someone who would cat sit? Boarding seems like something of a last resort.
I do have someone from the dojo who could come by and feed her daily, but I'm worried that she would be too lonely.
I checked out the boarding facility at her vet's office and they seem reasonable. I just don't know which she would be happier with. This is one of those times I wish cats could talk.
