i've actually thought about becoming an anthropologist. people are interesting. i love all of this stuff, i'm a huuuuuge fan of egyptians, indians, arabic people, african, etc. my sister-in-law has a friend from kenya and has the accent and everything and he is so damn fun to talk to.
Instead of going on a "conventional" vacation, you can sign up for a scientific expedition! You give Earthwatch your vacation money and they provide you with food and a place to sleep (usually for two weeks) as well as transportation to and from your abode to the research location....and YOU are part of a research project. Talking to dolphins, restoring Egyptian murals, measuring volcanic activity, you name it! You sign up for what you want and get yourself to the "staging area" (which is usually the closest major city to the research location). If you want to explore exotic locales, you can sign up for something in a faraway land, but if you want to be budget-conscious, pick something near your home - I was surprised there were expeditions so close to my town!
I love reading your posts. They are always so intereesting, well thought out, and well written. Your posts always make me think about new ideas in new ways. Keep up the good work!
