Emma and I once found $20 on the floor in Myer. While I didn't think anyone was going to call up the store about a lost twenty dollars, I told her we should hand it in to a staff member for this sort of reason ... to show that just because you find something it doesn't mean you should keep it. (The store actually phoned me the next morning and said we could have it, no-one claimed it, which is what I thought would happen but it's still about principles, YK?)
No, stay away from husbands! Nothing but trouble, heh. I've been having some crazy times, though. I've been looking for a new job but I'm *still* in the interview and reference process for one I applied for in April because they're *that* picky about referees. They've spoken to three people so far, who've all given me positive references, and have the numbers of two others. Apparently they really want to hire me, but since the job I've been at for about three and a half years now has a no reference policy I'm screwed.
Urrrgh, I hate the 'no reference' policy. It's essentially saying 'you will only be leaving this company on OUR terms'. It is unfair and I don't think it should be legal because having references is essential to getting a new job!
This sounds really awful, but maybe you should do what most people do and get one of your colleagues to pretend they are your manager.
Ugh, I really hate that shit. Whenever I find money I always look around to see if it might belong to someone. I would never just pocket it and piss off - that could be someone's food money for the week and they're not going to eat without it.
BTW, I am catching up on everyone's journals and I am lol-ing my arse off at someone stating having an 'ethnic' name does not affect the chances of someone getting a job. Corporate Australia is racist, sexist, ageist and homophobic. The next time I hear 'we're looking for a man in his early thirties' I am going to choke a bitch. I was actually dumb enough to ask my boss why this was the specification for a particular job and was told 'men in their early thirties have families and work hard because they have to'. A+++ Who would have known people other than men in their early thirties need to eat?
