“The poet Whosit, Jeeves,” and I gave him a look that could only be described as smug. “You’re not the only one who can quote the classics, you know. Now, apply your grey matter to question at hand.”

Oh, this was grand. My housemate probably wonders why I've been giggling uncontrollably for the past five minutes. Thanks for unearthing and sharing!

Yes, the poet Whosit is one of my favorites, too. Glad you liked it.

Hah! This was fun. I often wonder about the possible relations between the various characters Hugh Laurie's played. His Blackadder roles seem to offer the best possibility for a generational thingy. I think George even mentions having an 'Uncle Bertie' at one point. Possibly Bertie's grandfather? Who knows? Thanks so much for sharing. Bertie 'quoting' the poet 'Whosit' was possibly the best thing ever. XD

So it's a crossover fic in timeline as well as fandom, I guess. Thanks for pointing that out--it hadn't occurred to me.

“A whatsit in the morning thingummy, sir?”

As I read this I could hear Bertie and Jeeves so clearly in my mind, could picture them too but it was this sentence, the thought of Jeeves repeating what Bertie had sad that made my smile grow even wider.

“Why, only a few minutes before this broadcast began I was watching another one that featured a British alienist, working for the police. And I could swear I had seen him before, too. Quite recently, in fact. Do we know any British alienists?”

“I believe the correct modern terminology is psychoanalyst. Or psychiatrist. And no, I am pleased to say, sir does not number any psychiatrists among his close personal friends.”

Err I gather that is a reference to Stephen Fry's character on Bones? (Don't watch it so I had to ask to be sure I recognized the reference correctly)

Overall this was a clever and very delightful piece! *g*

Yes, it was a reference to Fry's character, whose name escapes me. Bones used to be on just before House.

Funny...don't show it to your evil aunties, though.

Never! The evil aunties would not approve of fun bags. Or anything else.
