Busy busy...

I'm quite tired today, but I feel like I had a productive weekend, so it's all good.

Saturday morning I went to a couple craft shows with jmj129 and then Dad took us out for lunch and Caribou coffee. (I didn't buy anything at the craft shows, but mom bought me a very cute dog puppet for $3.) In the afternoon Gary and I did a little bit of running around. He's had a killer cold this last week, which has been tough on him, but he's starting to feel a little better. Sounds way worse, but says he feels pretty okay. (Hurray guaifenesin!)

I told Gary I thought we should go to Cabella's in the afternoon, so we took off to go into Rogers. It was kind of a zoo, which I suppose was to be expected with the nice weather, but I found the one thing I was looking for, which is bedding for The Biscuit's crib, and also got some good ideas. They've got plush bear footstools and rocking animals, but they're very expensive. Mom thinks we should just make one, but I'm not sure they'd turn out nearly as cute. There are also all manner of plush animal rugs and plush "taxidermy" which probably sounds questionable taste-wise to most people, but I think they'd be very cute in the nursery.

Sunday was very productive. I was out of bed before 8am, which is getting more and more common for me on weekends lately (oy) and after some initial wake-up/breakfast/internet I started on some cleaning and straightening. Nothing huge, mostly little stuff. Some dusting/glass cleaning here and there, going through some magazines and mail, starting laundry... Okay, a lot of laundry got done. And then, since I was on a roll, I washed all the baby stuff we had so far.

We took a little bit of a break halfway through the day, because we got a call from my parents that the Doolittle's Air Cafe in Coon Rapids is closing this week (BOO!), and mom still had money left on a gift card she was nice enough to let us have. So we picked up some lunch and brought it home and watched a little TV before getting started on more stuff.

We folded up the ping pong table and I put together the last piece of IKEA furniture that we'd bought last weekend, so now I've got a bookshelf downstairs. Yay for somewhere to finally put some books! And actually it's one of the first things you see when you go down the stairs, which gives the basement a very nice feeling. I like it a lot. I've only got about half the stuff on the shelves so far, but I was getting pretty tired by the time I'd gotten that far.

So like I said, I'm pretty sore and pretty tired today, but I think it was all worth it. There's still lots to get done, but at least there's a dent in it now. Mom and Dad have some cabinets Dad built a long time ago that they're letting us have, at least one of which will likely go into the nursery, but I'd like to get it stripped and repainted first. There are still a hundred or so home-improvement things we'd like to get done.

But I should probably get back to work at my actual job here I suppose before they fire me and we don't have the cash to get any of it done anymore! LOL...
