Thanks very much! I've been kind of obsessed with Dave ever since Outcast aired.

I really liked this. Of all the fics featuring John (or variations of) and David, this is the one I like the most.

You wrote Dave!

And beautifully too. I love bleeding but not broken other John, and the cipher and the glimpses of their childhood, just great stuff. That bit about grounded John taking off on his motorcycle--just perfect.

I really, really appreciate that you don't explain how other John came to be, but I really want him to not be alone. (Cue the Johnny Cash song.)

Thanks! I love Dave. I feel like he was such a gift to fanfic writers, even though he was barely onscreen at all.

I know exactly how other John came to be, but I won't tell you if you don't want to know. ;)

Oh what a great Dave and John story. I loved the mystery as it all flowed and finally came together at the end. I'm left thinking this is, if not the orignial, then another of the replicator created John. After all, I could see John being very worried about nanite contamination of Dave.

I really hope you do some more stories with this John.

Yes, this is repli!John. Whether or not he's the original repli!John or a duplicate repli!John is an exercise left up to the reader. But it's definitely a replicator version, and nanite contamination is exactly what John was worried about.

I have a whole prequel to this story written out in my head. And actually part of a story which may or may not be a prequel, but is definitely repli!John.

Fantastic! Rich and complex and sad. You make me want so much for these two to be able to have more than just these little coded messages, but at least I know that for them, it's something like enough. Man, what a compelling portrait of the Sheppard brothers.

Thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed it. I find the Sheppard brothers' dynamic fascinating.
