He's skating as fast as he can, eyepatch off so Akito and Agito are both sharing the body. Akito had refused to allow Agito to take over alone, since if they found someone Agito needed him, and the dark could use his power. They weren't dying again. They couldn't.
The teen skidded around a corner and noticed the woman, skidding to a halt. She probably had every right to be alarmed at the sight of him. Akgito were a mess, hair wild from skating, golden eyes wide and afraid, the right one more wary and alert while the left was purely terrified. They had to find somewhere that was safe, that was good...he hated this place.
Agito did catch her words though, and growled through the panting. "If only..." he muttered, poking Akito in their mind. The light wanted to be out, he could deal with the people.
At the end of the hall, there was a faint splash, and sickening, squelching noise. Rotted flesh and a worn boot stepped out of the bathroom, into the puddle of water in the hall.
A choked sound followed it, and the woman at the end of the hall reached out toward the pair, gesture desperate and afraid, water pouring from her mouth as she did so.
"Oh..." He didn't like that. If there was some way to tell, it would be good...it beat trying to work it out for himself and potentially getting stuck in a room.
Then there was that sound and he froze for a second before looking around wildly. What was that? It sounded bad, very bad. He spotted the woman after a moment and paused. While he really did not want to go anywhere near her, that movement was...strange. Agito rose in their mind, urging him to give up control, but she wasn't getting closer yet...Akito whimpered, unsure of what to do here. Maybe he should just run again...
Looking up as she heard the strange noise, she couldn't help a quiet gasp. What the hell... Grabbing Akito's arm, she shoved him behind her, uncaring if she hurt him in the process. If that thing touched him, he'd face worse than bruises. Pulling a box of salt out of her pocket, she quickly put down a line of salt in front of them.
"Stay behind me. If she somehow gets over this line, I want you to run and not look back. Do you understand?"
If the woman even registered the reactions of either of them, let alone the salt, she didn't show it. But she did move closer-- her arms extended more fully, and she began to lean forward, clawing at the air. Her eyes were dull but terrified.
As the water ran across the floor, so to did she-- moving with the puddle to take steps closer to them. Once again she opened her mouth, trying to call out to them, but only choking and water came out.
Akito still didn't know whether or not the ghost was dangerous, but his other rather viciously reminded him that he had thought that about the last thing they'd met, and it had killed them. The light flinched and sunk back in their mind, a little upset.
The dark didn't like that he'd scared his other, but right now he had greater things to worry about. He'd make it up to Akito later. He took control, stepping away from the woman slightly and watching the reaction. "What's the salt do?" he questioned, a little blunter than his other. There was no real difference between their voices, only a slightly lower tone from Agito, so he wouldn't be surprised if she didn't notice. Particularly with the eyepatch off.
Speaking of. He tugged that out of his pocket and put it on, covering the left eye. No way was he letting Akito 'see' any of this. His other could hide for now. Agito wouldn't let him get hurt again.
Backing away from the salt line, just in case, she never took her eyes off of the ghost woman. "Salt is pure, evil can't cross something so holy." As long as the regular rules applied anyway. All she had was a hope that something would actually work on the monsters here, without that...she had nothing.
She had no clue that she was talking to someone else. That was a luxury she didn't have, not if she was going to get the both of them away from this ghost. Hell, the only reason that she was still here with him was because she had to make damn sure that salt worked against the spirits here. Especially before she faced any hounds or similar deadly forms.
"Watch yourself, okay Akito? I'm not completely positive that the salt will work."
As she approached the salt line, she stopped for a moment. Her hands reached out, clawing at the air, eyes pleading while water fell from her mouth. But as the water coming from her, dripping and gurgling, joined the water on the floor, the edge of the puddle grew and slipped forward. It reached the salt, running over it and beginning to dissolve it.
The woman stepped over the line.
She opened her mouth as if to speak, and then reached out again, grabbing at them forcefully and stubbornly, desperate to snatch either of them, to anchor herself.
He didn't bother correcting her about the name thing at the moment, too busy noticing the water. "That water's dissolving it," he muttered, leaping back a bit. He wasn't letting that thing touch him.
'Agito...'
Akito was scared. He wanted to get out of here. Their body was tiring, but it wasn't safe here...would Mary be able to run away? He didn't want to leave her...
Mary's complete focus was on the woman and the salt. She knew that if this failed, their only hope was running; she hadn't exactly come prepared to fight off ghosts. Stepping back, she kept an arm out to prevent Akito from moving forward.
As it crossed the salt line, she cursed softly under her breath and moved back quicker. She wouldn't run until the boy did. If she left, he'd be the only target left, yet she was still trying to stay out of the ghosts reach.
"Akito, Run! Now!" Taking control of the situation, she ran her fingers over the small salt box in her bag, pondering if it was worth it to try anything else...No. It was no use wasting it...
She began to fall, landing on the floor and reaching as far as she could. She clawed at their ankles, inching forward as the water did.
She choked again. Her water clogged, rotting fingers scrabbling for purchase. Water spilt from her mouth and she used every centimeter to gain on them.
