Thinking about everything that had happened in the last bit, Mary hadn't been so foolish as to let herself drop her guard. It was her fault that Knuckle had been killed...if she'd heard the dogs coming, she could have shut the door or found a way to ward the dogs off. Hearing someone ahead of her, she advanced quietly.
Peeking into the parlor, she was well prepared to either run or fight, depending on what was in there.
A man? ...His body language didn't say that he was new, but she hadn't seen him before. It didn't mean he hadn't been here the whole time though.
Tapping the door frame, she waited to see what his reaction would be. He would either attack or ask where he was...what ever he chose would tell her exactly what she needed to know about him.
Mary would actually get neither of the expected actions. Although Leon's blue eyes moved to look at the woman, and his hand shifted just slightly to where his gun would be, he didn't show any outward signs of aggression, merely caution. And as he knew where he was, there was no reason to ask either.
Still, he looked the woman over. She wasn't someone he had seen before, yet he had not met many of the ones there. Most he had seen at a glance at the meeting, but at the time he was still partially distracted, attempting at the time to find Liz or any word of her. So he supposed this woman could have been there, although if he dragged his thoughts, it didn't seem so.
Leon remained quiet a moment though, as he let each thought pass, before he spoke to Mary; his voice was calm, low, and non-threatening, but yet firm at the same time. "Who are you? Are you one of the things in the house, or someone brought here?"
She could almost have sighed in relief as he didn't seem to be one of the creatures that the house seemed to spew out. One less person that she needed to avoid.
Smiling slightly, she shook her head. "I'm not one of the things that wander the halls." Stepping around the corner, she took her time entering the room, knowing better than to completely drop her caution around the stranger. "Mary...and you are?" If she'd ever met him before, she certainly couldn't remember it. Of course, her first bit here was nothing but a big blur in her mind.
Just like her, Leon wasn't going to drop his guard completely. Although she said she wasn't part of the home, he didn't want to be caught unaware; although admittedly, he'd really only seen creatures, and once the form of a little girl. But he wasn't rude, and although his body language suggested he remained at the ready, Leon let his hand fall to his side rather than staying near his gun.
"Leon," He replied simply to her question, although the other remark made him tilt his head. "How long have you been here? And do you know how long 'here' has existed?"
New arrivals were not exactly something he wanted to deal with any time soon. He'd already had more contact with this group than was probably safe for him.
This guy looked like a fighter anyway, he shouldn't mess with him, he should just keep right on walking and not even glance at him or show any interest. Right. That's what he should do. He knew it, knew the smart way to take this, knew how dangerous adult males could be if you underestimated them.
He barely nodded to Leon, keeping a wary eye on him and keeping his bag tucked against his side as he headed for the kitchen.
And perhaps if Leon was any other male, he would have ignored the passing of the child, although in this place it was doubtful. In this place, it was well to note anyone and everyone, or at least that's what every sense of his being told him, and more so it was important to find out who was friend or foe.
Still, Leon was aware it would do no good to frighten the boy, if he was a friend at the least, so although his body stiffened, ready just in case the lad was more than he seemed, Leon kept his voice only firm, but not angered or harsh, as spoke a single word to the child. "Wait."
Leon could see the look, and he was reminded momentarily of Sherry, who Claire had often said kept running from her, and the monsters in the RPD. Of course, the curtness made Leon feel vaguely unsure, but it lasted only a moment.

He just wanted to get to the kitchen and replenish is supplies. Not have random encounters with the people here.
