Effective communication is one of those things I suck at

Sep 28, 2009 17:53

So I was going to do that "loves on" meme but I realized I haven't, like, actually...talked to anyone for a long time, so that would be stupid. And then I got sad. :( And then I resolved to comment more (which I still do), but I realized it has kinda been hard lately because whenever I'm not at work, everyone's freaking sleeping! And then I got sad ( Read more... )

Oh man, I am terrible at staying in touch with people. Thankfully most people, I've found, are pretty forgiving (not that I shouldn't work on improving my communication skills).

I'm doing okay over here in Osaka! I feel very lucky to be here, and today was a good day in terms of writing some e-mails and getting things rolling on applications and things. Not 100% great, but definitely a step in the right direction. So I feel a little productive. Let me know your schedule and we can try to work out visits and things! We'll go to karaoke and can hang out and have a good time. 8)

Woohoo! Do your best! I'm sure you'll find a job pretty soon, and then you'll be in Kansai with a job! A prefect combination. I'm beginning to think of potentially trying to do that myself, but it's still pretty early in the game to seriously consider it.

Random story, but one of my students totally nearly made me cry during the elective English class I go to with my 3rd year JTE. He wrote this simple essay about how he wanted to become a pilot ever since he was little and he got a signature from his favorite member of this aerial acrobatics group so he's going to try hard even now and ohhh ;_; Things like this make me want to try hard to make my dreams hard.

So the moral of this story is that Japanese children are heartwarming and if you DO YOUR BEST!! your dreams will come true. I don't know. Will let you know when I'm heading to Kansai next!

Nnn, I've been sleeping earlier ever since I started my job, because I need to energy for class. :/ Though lately since I've gotten back into a drawing mood, I've started staying up later.

Oh, and my IM is on my lj profile! I'm not on that much as of late though...should really change that, sigh. Though I thought you lived in EST? If so, then it's more like it's 10pm when it's 9am for you. And when Daylight Savings happens over there it'll be 11pm when it's 9am since Japan doesn't do daylight savings at all (sometimes I wish they did, because it starts getting dark really, really early here).

Hay Jess mentioned below that she might be up for some internet RPing...you think you might want to do that as well y/y? :D We could continue from that idea that took place in the Overland world?

Also. Come to Japan. Now. >(

I often stay up late, you can probably find me on Twitter or Facebook. And when I say late, I mean 1am or 2am Eastern.

If you send me an @reply or DM on Twitter, I can turn on my chat program if you want to chat. I often forget about it otherwise!

Just added your AIM name to my ICQ contact list. My number is 11624061, but it should show "Lanisatu" as the name.

The problem with staying late is that it tends to be morning for me, so I'm at school. That's what I've been struggling with at late--it seems like I can only catch people during the morning on weekends (and even then I tend to sleep in too late!). So sad. :( But I will try to hit you up when I can!

Well, I work from home, so let me know what time is good for you. I'm usually online all day because I'm checking e-mail, doing research, and working on things for clients. But I do take breaks every few hours or so. I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to schedule a break around a time you're available :)

SHADY

I JUST WANT TO SAY I STILL THINK YOU'RE A PRETTY COOL LADY

That and I really miss rping with you. ;_; We should do like an e-mail play by post or something if you're interested. *lol*

It sounds like you've been doing fantastic in Japan - I'm so proud of you. :3 Out of curiousity, do you read many American comics? I've fallen in love with Mouse Guard lately and I'm pretty sure you'd like it too.

Okay I'll stop bugging you and let you return to your glamourous teacher life. XD If you ever want to talk, just send me a message or something! <3 I know we're in opposing time zones, but I'll always reply when I can!

I miss RPing with you too! ;__; We could totally do something by email! That really might be the best right now, anyway ♥ Just hit me up at shadyrabbit at gmail dot com!

I read American comics when I can...which unfortunately isn't often (especially now) XD; But, I think I remember you showing me a bit of Mouse Guard, and I totally remember liking what I saw. So I'll see what I can do to get my hands on it, because more comics is always good~

And ppsshhh glamorous teacher life? HAHA, if you took one look at my apartment you'd see how modest this life really is. But I'm hanging in there, somehow.

That would be super awesome! :D Ah... What do you want to RP? XD

Yeah, I imagine the market's a bit shifted in Japan... XD If there's anything you're looking for, I can always ship some to you as a highly-belated Christmas/birthday present. (And before you argue, media materials ship cheaper than anything else. D: ) Have you ever read Bone? That's my other huge American comic love. XD Out of curiousity, on something you probably do have access to there, did you ever read CLAMP's Tsubasa? I was really interested in it for a long time and then I turned around and there was like 20 volumes. D:

I would say "pssh my apartment is small too" but you're in Japan, so your entire apartment is likely my kitchen. XD

Um...well, anything's cool with me! :D;; Sorry, I'm no help at all LOL. Anything in particular you want to do?

Hmm, Bone? I haven't heard of that at all. I'll have to look it up! And if you want to send stuff--how about you just send it as a X-mas present this year, and we'll just call it even? Haha. And have I read Tsubasa? Dude, this is CLAMP we're talking about. Of course I have, haha. Though I haven't finished it, because it was getting a bit long...but you've got pretty good timing, because I think it either just ended this month, or will be ending in a few weeks or something (yes, CLAMP actually ended something. SHOCK!). I like it well enough, but I honestly like its sister story, xxxHoLIC, a lot better (both artwise and in terms of its story direction). You should probably check both of them out, if you have time though!

...My entire apartment is probably the size of your bathroom. Okay, just kidding. It's more like your bathroom + your closet.
