I loff Dear Frankie--have seen it many many times. I own Beowulf and Grendel, but I've only watched it twice, although I DID like it a lot!

My love affair with Gerard has cooled somewhat. It's not him, it's me. >_>

hee! It's sad when our pretend boyfriends cease to amuse and entertain, isn't it?

It IS. The bloom is just off the rose, I guess. I think it's because it got to be every time I saw a picture of him, I felt embarrassed for him...pants were too small (where's the problem, you say??) or too short, brown shoes with a black suit, shirt sleeves too long, the jacket too short. And in some photos he looked like a homeless guy. The man needs a stylist, I tell you!!

*stares at icon, drooling*

um. what were we talking about? ....

oh right!

You know, there was a period where it looked like he was still trying to wear the clothes he'd bought before he really bulked up for 300 and Beowulf. He's been looking a little better these days, though. although, I must admit the suit he wore to the Rocknrolla premiere did look like it was proportioned wrong for him. It wasn't too tight, really, it just didn't fit his body shape very well.

Anyway. All this to say, I still think he's yummy, and I'm sorry that you've moved on because no one else on my f-list pervs over him at all. :D

I find that, on a moment's reflection, I can nearly always be in the mood for a little Colonel Brandon.

I haven't heard a thing about Beowulf and Grendel till this post, but I have been to Iceland, and I would love to see the movie for that reason alone. But it sounds fascinating. *adds it to queue*

Thank you for the rec.

There's a whole documentary about the difficulties they had during the filming, and much of the director/producers commentary track is about the landscape.

I hope you like it!

*puts it in netflix queue as something I can watch with My Guys* I was in an RPG with a G Butler pup and thus read about filming that movie in detail...

:D

Please be aware that there is some sexuality in the movie. Once scene in particular makes some people very uncomfortable. I don't want to spoil the film for you, but if you want me to be more explicit, I'm happy to do so.

He's seventeen, and we've watched Chasing Amy (which caught me totally by surprise) and Pulp Fiction (I turned it off at the torture scene). So I think we'll be OK. Plus, Beowulf's a classic ;-)

:D

well, they expand on the classic just a bit....but I'm pretty sensitive to certain things, and this didn't squick me, so it's probably not an issue. I've just read the reactions of some folk who were squicked and wanted to warn you.

...then again, this was from a message board on the internet, so probably there was a whole lot of "no, that didn't rev my engine at all! I'm snowy white and oh-so-pure!" going on, now that I consider it.
