Glancing at his watch, Solomon made haste across town to his appointed meeting. It'd been a fairly busy day in the hospital due to the earthquake that shook the City, but thankfully most of the injuries had been mild. A few broken bones, some lacerations, and only a couple concussions due to falling debris... easily handled but time consuming enough that he almost hadn't made it out the doors in time ( ... )

Alexis's own patience began to show-- his golden pocket watch had been pulled out, cover open and face showing the time at two 'til seven now. There still was room for punctuality, he knew, and again he summoned a cool expression while his eyes followed the minute ticking of the watch hands. Certainly, if his discerning young doctor son could tell him that this acquaintance was a charming sort, then perhaps this Dr Goldsmith would be precisely so. And, in all reality, that was something to monitor carefully, as well. Luckily there would be plenty of time to scrutinise that during this meeting of minds and exchange of information-- surely he could gain the upper hand in this acquaintanceship ( ... )

"I do hope I didn't keep you waiting... unfortunately my schedule at the hospital is of the type that I'm not always able to get away as quickly as I would wish." He glanced at an antique grandfather clock nestled in the shadows of the room. Seven o'clock exactly. Although if truth be told, he could have used his chiropteran speed to arrive with plenty of time to spare. But when it came to first meetings, it often didn't do to look too eager, and as long as he was on time, what did it matter?

"Still, no harm done..." He smiled pleasantly, reaching out his hand to greet the 'older' man. "A pleasure to finally meet you in person, Lord Hargreaves."

As surely as he himself was being studied, Solomon had already come to his own conclusions about the man he was facing. There was something about him... a sharpness that he could see in the man's eyes. It was clear that the evening was going to prove itself to be quite interesting, considering that Solomon's shrewd business mind was rarely wrong when it came to understanding the nature of ( ... )

There was almost a languorous look to the man with whom he was conversing, and somehow it seemed to fit the young man. It was entirely possible that, were this Dr Goldsmith not entirely human, the feeling could have stemmed from the inevitable ennui of a long-lived life. Of course, he reminded himself as he rose to his feet, it was a foolish idea to instantly jump to such conclusions. Alexis smiled still, reaching his full height as he took the proferred hand and shook it quite firmly. Of course, that conclusion he had jumped to was promptly filed away.

"The pleasure's all mine, really," he replied as he once more moved to sit. The formalities were quite obviously not a concern to this man-- there had been no reaction to him remaining seated as his guest arrived in the room. It mattered little now, but perhaps it would and could come into play. His stare never once left his companion even as he reclined back into that chair; until he knew more about this man, it would never be a wise idea to let any move go unnoticed. "I've heard so ( ... )

Predator. The word echoed throughout his thoughts, embedding itself in his awareness. Was it the way this human moved that reminded him of a stalking cat? Or perhaps it was how his eyes bore into him as if Solomon was quite possibly a tasty morsel waiting to be swallowed up. He tilted his head slightly, masking every trace of surprise that would give his thoughts away.

Listening past the soft roar of noise emanating from the rest of the Den, he focused on the steady beat of the man's heart and the rush of blood coursing through his veins. Human. Definitely human... and yet...

The corners of Solomon's mouth curved into a warm grin, almost excited at the idea of facing someone who was more than he appeared, whatever that meant... “Oh? I hadn't been aware that you and the good doctor were close. I'm sure that he must have exaggerated...” Still, it pleased him to no end that Jezebel even saw fit to talk about him at all. It only added weight to his theory that the two of them were actually friends, despite how reluctant the doctor ( ... )
