whatever you do, don't overpack. last summer i did, and even though i thought ahead and brought stuff home every time i came home (for christmas, spring break and such...) and even though i was smart and responsible and sent home two big boxes of stuff with UPS, the trip home with everything was hell. hell! 110 lbs. of luggage, not including my carryons, which were my violin, computer case and "pillow" (in which i had concealed my sheets, a pile of clothes and a webster's collegiate dictionary)

please don't make the same mistake i did.
