Why are so many songs of gay iconography getting stuck in my head? First I woke up with Ms. Diana Ross' "I'm Coming Out" and now "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor, which I totally blame on blak. I think I blame the former on blamblazer now that I think about it, though it was entirely subconscious I am sure.

He told me he didn't like it either. Christy did, but she may be blinded by the naked men frolicking in the pond. :]

In high school he liked it, and was really excited when I was reading it, but O.K.

Tastes change, I guess.

..."I Will Survive" is a gay song? O.o First I heard of it.

And I did love "A Room With A View" but I haven't read it in like seven years.

It isn't gay so much as iconic. A lot of gay people have used that song to identify their struggle with, well, surviving their struggle to be out and proud, I guess. Obviously an older generation. Today's generation would be more likely to look to a group like Tatu or something. Though "I Will Survive" will forever be played in gay clubs and used in drag shows.

I've always thought of it as a woman-empowering song. ^_^*

A lot of woman-empowering songs of the 70s have been adopted by gay men. ^^* It's the underdog thing, I think.
