What is wrong with people?

I found the "Thank God for Sept 11" sign most poignant. The upside-down Canadian flag shocked me. People can hang the US flag upside down all they want, but the Canadian flag? What's wrong with them?

Perhaps they should have paid closer attention to their side of the Bible: "Let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action." John 3:18 ( Read more... )

And sad. To know people can be so.. brainwashed like that.

And CANADA?! WTF did those nice people do to them?! GO CANADIA!

I can only assume this was a Canadian church, hence the upside-down Canadian flag. That may also explain some of the extreme anti-American signs. I am all for being unpatriotic, but there are things called total political gaffes.

Nope. It's the Westboro Baptist church (not real baptists) from Kansas, the one that was disrupting all of those Iraq War soldier's funerals. Nobody likes them. The KKK even distributes pamphlets protesting them. If you're a gay-hating organization and the damn KKK won't even back you, you know you're fucking up somehow.

Catchy little ditty, though. Now it's gonna be stuck in my head all damn day.

It must be from when Canada legalized gay marriage, then.

I saw Matthew Shepherd's mother speak at Western a few years ago. It was very awesome. The place was packed and they had to turn people away, but they just stayed in the lobby and tried to listen in.

Wow. I always took it for granted that extreme right-wing religious folks had at least glanced at the Bible … "it's too late to change His mind"? What got that idea into their heads?

In particular, have they even heard of the Book of Jonah?

Come now, they don't actually read the Bible. They rely on other people to read it for them and highlight the good parts.

Ah, the Westboro Baptist Church. Well, they're not really baptists. Come to think to it, their beliefs don't even remotely resemble Christianity, so they're not really a church, either. But they ARE in Westboro. Actually, wait. No. They're based out of Topeka. Gives you some idea about their credibility, even if you know nothing about them.
