I'm getting tired of bagging my own groceries at the supermarket. What happened to the bagger boys who took care of that sort of thing for us? It seems like the only people working the store are stocking the shelves with more overpriced consumables for us to buy. They've even removed some of the checker stations for "do it yourself" style kiosks. ( Read more... )

In Milwaukee, a low-cost grocery store chain (Aldi's) deals with cart theft by making you put a quarter in to get a cart out. If you steal the cart, you don't get your quarter back :)

I like bagging my own groceries. People nowadays don't know how to do it. I get grossed out when someone puts raw meat in the same bag with produce or cleaning products in with food products. It's just better when you do it yourself! :)

only time i've ever bagged my own groceries in tucson is at one of those self-checkout things. I only use those if all the other lanes are ridiculously long and I only have a few items.

When I lived in minneapolis, all the "big" grocery stores there make you bag your own stuff with the exception of the high-end stores where you're paying price premiums...

I put down all false information (with the exception of my phone # so they can look it up if when I don't carry the actual cards) for the little cards and always make sure to check the box "don't send me advertisements or share my information with third parties."
