I just happened to be lucky enough to be sitting next to my mother as I read this article and passed it along to her, and then I passed it on to my father as well. We all agree, you'd be hard pressed to justify doing that to ANYONE, let alone a five-year-old.

This is the one time where the American system of "suing" I think is wonderful. I hope they milk all the money they can get out of this to fund sending him to a better institution. Or homeschool him. Obviously, that school district is no place for ANY child.

I totally agree - and I am not real big on lawsuits.
I wish I could get my school district to pay for my son to go to a better school - it would take a lawsuit I'm sure, and it is so hard to prove that they are not providing him with the appropriate services. Plus I think he does get a lot out of interacting with the other kids. The nearest school specifically for autistic children is almost an hour away and costs US $70K per year (about 35,000 pounds).
