The short non-scary version is this:
I somehow managed to not drown today.

I'm glad you didn't drown and didn't get badly hurt.

You could have - thats a really bad swim.

But yeah, a raft is nothing like a canoe or kayak. Technique is totally different when it comes to dealing with the river in a boat than in a raft.

I hope this doesn't put you off learning how to manage a canoe in rapids.

I'm going to suggest that while you recover you get a copy of "Catch Every Eddy, Surf Every Wave" by Tom Foster and Kel Kelly and read it.

This is a great book, its got information for both canoeists and 'yakers.

A., I was a little embarassed writing this knowing that you would read it.

the only reason I've not done something similar is I tend to paddle with friends who possess more common sense than I do - and are only about a year a head of me in experience.

Because, really - who needs the Voice of Reason when you can have the Voice Of Binky?

But most of all, I'm glad you are ok.

Thanks. And this has not scared me off the water.... just off the Ocoee in a canoe. I would gladly go back on the river in a nice big inflatable.... um.... well.... maybe in a few eeks LOLOLOL

Mark, I love you more than your canoe...and after having nearly lost my long-time close friend Gary less than a week ago, you can well imagine me giving you a stare-down with both hands on my hips. I'm SO happy to know that you're in one piece (and not water-logged)...but I'm happy that you are staying away from the water for a while too.

Yep. You and The Mister.
He read me the riot act over the phone when I confessed.

Have you got a sealed envelope waiting for The Mister? sandor_baci July 28 2009, 04:25:42 UTC
One with instructions, like, "This is my LJ log-on, please let all my friends know I'm dead"?

Jeez, Maje. Glad you're still here.

I actually do have that. Plus, there are a couple of people on here that I know in R/L who have my phone number who I guess would call if all of a sudden a couple of weeks went by with no posts.
Check your LJ email.
