Suffering from piles (of old magazines)

I've been having another sort out of old boxes. No, I don't need to keep old copies of Counsel or SCL magazine. Old copies of BAA Journal I'll keep for now (a while back they took a several-year run for their back issue stocks). Old BSFA stuff can go, but I keep convention publications ( Read more... )

They do get either tidied or recycled at some point, but rather haphazardly.

Really need more options on the second question. SF mags and comics get filed. MYM, True Crime etc and Private Eye get rotated from coffee table to magazine rack in the loo before recycling. Time, National Enquirer and Fortean Times get read and recycled. Nat Geo goes to the charity shop in batches. The kids comics are their own problem but appear to be carpeting (so long as it stays on their floor of the house).

I tried converting my Economist subscription to digital-only, but was told rather apologetically that the paper+digital subscription I'm on is very old (and no longer available) and any newer digital-only subscription would be more expensive.

Oh and to answer your questions:
Games TM lie around in the loo and chucked in recycle after a month or so.
SFX lie around in the loo as well, but only get chucked in recycle after a grand "go through the reviews and add good sounding ones to my amazon withlist" session every few months.

Here, "bin/recycling" includes the Friends of the West Covina Library, where the Volunteers keep out a largish box of magazines for sale at 25 cents each. I haul a bag of substantial magazines over about monthly. Other, trivial, paper stuff that's more like ads for charities goes straight to the recycle bin.

The only paper magazine I get now is Private Eye. It goes straight to the bathroom and is read over 10-14 days until the next one arrives. Every now and again, I remove the small heap of issues from the bathroom, and relocate it on the big heap of issues on the landing cupboard.
