The only problem with your idea of the secret service is they are pretty much apolitical....it just seems fair to allow the democrats to use Homeland Security for their political agenda for awhile.......

Besides, I think you are being a bit harsh on the Sec, after all she did end the "war on terror"; granted it was only by changing it's name, but hey she meant well.

Yeah, the "terrorists came from Canada" myth has been around since the week of 9/11. And it probably angered me the most then. Because in the wake of a nation grieving, some people jumped on the opportunity to move blame to the favourite scapegoat. Rather than, you know, blaming the terrorists.

I will admit, however, to feeling like I was on my knees grateful when it turned out not to be true - since that would have likely been very bad. Especially as our relations were bad enough under the Bush administration already.

Now, for some reason, it's just the myth that keeps coming back. But I do love how quickly the American press is now to be the one to slam it back down.

It's interesting that her other response was to point to the Millennium Bomber, because that makes almost as little sense for her argument. Yes, he came through Canada. However, that was an example of everyone doing their jobs correctly. The RCMP were already investigating him, and when they realized he was headed to the States they alerted the American ( ... )
