To cope with this dreaded months-long hiatus, rococoms and I have a number of activities planned for everyone here at majorcrimes. This particular event however was requested by acquariusgb who brought forward the idea of running a community-wide challenge-type event, so many thanks to her for coming forward with this exciting idea.
What exactly is The Major Crimes Super Fandom Challenge? It’s the ultimate fandom challenge for any and all Major Crimes fans! Each participant’s objective is to fulfill a variety of mixed media challenge requirements and to post all completed works between February 14 - February 28 (Happy Valentine’s Day for all the shippers among us!) here at majorcrimes.
Bellow the cut is detailed information about the posting requirements, rules, resources, and….. prizes!
1) What do I need to create to fulfill The Major Crimes Super Fandom Challenge?
In order to complete the challenge, each participant must post the following:
i. A Fic - must be at least 300 words long, there is no maximum fic length. Fics may include any pairing, character-centric plot, theme [please use your discretion and provide appropriate warnings], and may take place at any point in the Major Crimes timeline [including flash-backs, flash forwards, etc.]. We are also super flexible about you bringing in characters from The Closer for your fics.
ii. A quote - must include a character and episode citation. The quote can be from any character, any episode, and any season of Major Crimes.
iii. A Picspam - Each picspam must include at least TEN photos. You may select any theme for your picspam (any character, ship, episode, etc.). You may be as creative as you like with your picspam, you may alter/colour your photos or post them without any alterations. Please post all picspams behind a cut.
iv. A Song Mix - Your song mix must include at least TEN songs and artists. You may include lyric quotes, cover art, you may also post just the songs and their artists. Please provide a title for your song mixes (like you would a fanfic). Your song mix can have any theme (any character, ship, episode, etc.); there are no restrictions on songs or artists, you may use anything you like.
v. A Motivational Poster - This website right here will generate motivational posters. The only thing that you have to do is come up with a caption(s) and upload the image(s). For HQ, watermark-free screencaps, MajorCrimesTV.net has an entire gallery to choose from.
vi. One of the following: A set of icons/A fanvid/A gif set/Graphic
Icons - Your icon set must have at least FIVE icons. If you would like to include more, by all means please do so. Your icons can have any theme (any character, ship, episode, etc.).
Fanvid - Your fanvid must be at least ONE MINUTE LONG . Longer fanvids are most certainly welcome. Your fanvid can have any theme (any character, ship, episode, etc.).
Gifs - Your gif set must have at least THREE GIFS. More are welcome as well. Your gifs can have any theme (any character, ship, episode, etc.).
Graphics - You must have at least TWO GRAPHICS but as with everything else, more is welcome. Your graphics can have any theme (any character, ship, episode, etc.).
2) When and how do I post my submissions?
All submissions must be posted to majorcrimes between February 14 - February 28.
All submissions must be tagged with “super fandom challenge.” Please tag ALL SUBMISSIONS. Each participant will be posting six works of art/fic/etc. and it will make the task of keeping track of everything a million times easier if everyone tags their submissions as soon as they post them.
You may post your submissions all at once, or in separate posts. As long as you tag each submission, we will be able to track your progress throughout the challenge. Please put all submissions behind a cut to spare people’s f-lists.
3) Are there any rules or restrictions?
The only rules are that each participant a) completes all submission requirements and b) submits all the requirements within the two week posting period.
Certain things should go without saying, please tag all posts with appropriate ship tags (if you require a tag please PM myself or rococoms), character tags, and creative tags (fanviv, fic, etc.). Please also provide any necessary warnings on your submissions (smut, trigger warnings for abuse, substance abuse, etc.).
4) Resources
We want to make this challenge as accessible as possible, so please check out these resources if you don’t already have resources at your disposal.

5) Prizes!
Here at majorcrimes, everyone is a winner and every participant is equally celebrated. But to make this a little bit more fun, rococoms and I will be giving out prizes to each participant who completes the challenge within the posting period. While this is a challenge, we do encourage everyone to participate, even if you think that you can only realistically complete one or two of the challenge requirements.
Each participant will be awarded a congratulatory banner, even participants who do not complete the challenge. Every artistic endeavour, complete or incomplete, is appreciated and will be celebrated at the conclusion of the challenge. We will post the banners with the challenge round-up post; this post will obviously go up after the challenge is complete and after we have tallied up all the submissions.
In the comment section of the round-up post, each successful participant will have the opportunity to request three icons that will be made for them as a prize for completing the challenge. Please give us some time to create these prizes for you; as soon as they’re all done we will create a separate post where we will award the icons to everyone who completed the challenge. You may request icons of any character, ship, from any episode of Major Crimes, etc.
