{Ruki and Olivia}
{Their Bedroom}
{Rated PG}

Olivia sighed and patted her baby’s back as he rested on her shoulder, against her chest. Being a mother was hard.. … and not very enjoyable, but secretly she liked it.

She wouldn’t admit it to anyone, but that wasn’t the point.

Taking care of Sou also let her forget about the building tension in the house and the delusion of her younger sister. Temari was going to die soon, very soon and Caroline wouldn’t let anyone tell her this, she was waiting for the redhead to say it himself. Temari wouldn’t though.

She was in for a load of hurt soon.

And then there was Mao.. Olivia didn’t even want to think about what was happening on that end. She let out a huge sigh, and leaned back on the chair as her child let out a nice loud burp.

Being a father was distressing, to say the least. Ruki had been working twice as often as he usually did just to get away from the crying and the shitting and the waking up at unnecessary hours. Indeed, his absence around the house was becoming a pattern, and he knew it was bad, but...

...well, oops.

And then there was the fact that he had a teenager whom he barely knew dying of AIDS upstairs. He was certain that Temari was going to die in his house, a fact which both alarmed him immensely and made him kind of sad.

But he didn't want to think about that, and so he was actually pleased to find his wife sitting and caring for his happy looking spawn. Oh, if only Sou knew what was happening.

"Oi, you." He wandered up next to her and ruffled her hair.

Olivia looked up and smiled at Ruki, stress draining out of her just at his appearance. Ruki was like the anti-stress drug, he didn’t take most things seriously and the energy carried over to her. “Hey,” she replied, taking Sou off her shoulder, the baby was in a good mood right now and was staring at his father.

The baby loved staring at the man that helped create him, he loved Ruki’s sunglasses and dreads, always wanting to play with them. In fact the babe started smiling at the sight of his father. He was learning who was important and who wasn’t, and there were a lot of important people. Olivia was secretly proud of the improvement.

“Oh, before I forget, Caroline is staying over in Temari’s room and taking care of him.. …..” The brunette sighed and looked down. “Things are going to suck when she has no choice be to believe that Temari’s close to dying, since he will probably be dead.” She was NOT looking forward to it.

...Damn. Hadn't he wanted to avoid thinking about that? Then again, considering everyone Olivia knew was affiliated with Temari, he couldn't blame her for being worried about it.

"Oh. Okay." He never would really care who lived in his house. Hell, she could stay once the kid was dead and Ruki wouldn't care.

...

"She doesn't believe it? He looks like a skeleton with mermaid hair." Tact had never really been a strong point of his.

“Temari won’t tell her himself and she won’t let herself believe it until she tells him,” Olivia replied in a depressed voice. “I just wanted to tell you she was here, let’s talk about other things, like our child perhaps. We could talk about how we want to raise him.” She smiled at the baby and Sou blinked at her only starting to learn what facial expressions meant.

It was sad when taking care of a baby was stress relieving instead of stressing.

Weird. Ruki didn't understand how people lied to themselves. Oh, well. Olivia was right, that was way too depressing. He peered at Sou, who was turning out to be a pretty good kid, meaning he didn't cry that much. Maybe he was just aware that Reita lived there.

...Speaking of Reita, where was he?

"Right. Once he's got enough hair, I want to dye it pink and blue to symbolize androgony. And I want to watch his first porno with him." Priorities, indeed; Ruki had hardly even considered where Sou would go to school, or anything like that.

Olivia laughed and then pouted. “I can’t watch it with him too? …waaait.. that might be bad because when we watch porno we have a tendency to have sex and I don’t really want to scar the child for life….. well.. with that at least.” She smiled.

Sou was going to have the most interesting childhood that adults scorned at and teenagers dreamed of. Children didn’t really care as long as they were entertained. The people in this house would take care of that part. No one was more amusing than this household. “We should teach him that being bisexual is amazing.”

Ruki nodded. "Though if he doesn't want to be, he doesn't have to. I don't think he'll be growing up with heterosexuals, though, aside from your sister. I'm assuming she's straight." But who were the rest of Sou's influences? Ruki, Olivia, Reita, Mao and Kyo?

...Yeah, there was no way he'd be straight, unless he was trying to rebel. Teenage rebellion. Ruki wasn't ready to deal with that. He had his doubts, though; there wasn't a whole lot to rebel against since there wouldn't be any rules set for him.

Olivia smiled. “Maybe having her first boyfriend die on her will turn her lesbian.” Olivia laughed a bit and then frowned. So it was back to this, was there anyway to avoid this at the time. She sighed again.

“Ruki can we go take a nap? Can we go forget about everything? Sou’s about ready to knock out for a couple of hours?” Olivia stood up with the baby and all of her stress was evident on every part of her body.

Ruki cringed. "Yeah, sure. Enough of this depression talk. He's not dead yet." Just really fucking close. And naturally Ruki would have to take care of everything. This was so not cool; why was all this stuff happening?

But he was always up for a nap, that was for sure.

"I have to go meet up with some people tonight, so I'll have to set the alarm." That would actually be fun. His idea of fun was really lopsided, wasn't it?

Olivia smiled. “Are you going to sell some drugs to some incredibly retarded citizens of Akachou?” She asked, rocking Sou as she started to walk towards the bedroom. The babe was already falling asleep, knowledge of the hell his parents would eventually put him through couldn’t even sink even if it wanted to.

Even though Ruki did a bad thing, it never really sunk that he was doing something too terrible, it wasn’t that he went to people, people usually came to him from what the brunette could see.

"Nope." Ruki sighed. "Tonight, I'm restocking on a few things." The bad part about selling a lot was buying a lot- not that he minded. It just took a lot of cash. Couldn't do things like that when he was hiring hitmen and so forth.

But he had his connections, of course.

Dangerous connections.
The scarier, the better.

“Oooh,” Olivia replied, nodding. She looked at Sou and walked down the hall, looking back to make sure that her husband was actually following. “How are we going to tell our child that he shouldn’t tell others that you sell drugs?” She chuckled to herself.

It would be very special conversation with Sou ‘don’t tell the teachers about daddy’s special candy that he sells on the street’.

She started laughing a bit more at the thought of calling it daddy’s special candy.

"We'll tell him its medicine for people who deserve to have holes in their brain. And marijuana is organic, like tomatoes. It's grass. But bad grass, only for people who want their living space to smell terrible. Which is not us. We'll also tell him it's illegal and if he tells his school teachers that daddy's a drug dealer there will be no more daddy."

Yeah, that sounded reasonable.

He shrugged. "It'll make him a more open minded person." Amongst other things. It would be a miracle if Sou wasn't on drugs, as well as suffering 10 different personality disorders, but Ruki liked to pretend that wasn't the case.

Olivia laughed a bit more. “Marijuana’s like tomatos? That will make afraid to eat them cause he won’t want holes in his brain… … unless he thinks that will be cool…” Olivia shook her head, who knew how this child would turn out, he could be a destructive child or a careful one… or an odd combination.. like his father.

…Ruki was a weird one… but she still .. ……………………………..liked him a lot. Her mind had almost fell into the world ‘love’, but not quite yet.

A simple shrug. "Tomatoes are covered in pesticides. Plus, they remind me of testicles. No one should eat them." Not to mention they tasted terrible. Ugh. Was there anything redeeming about a fucking tomato?

He supposed they did have a nice colour to them.

But that was it.

"Potatoes, tomatoes... they're all Satan vegetables. If I were a dictator I'd ban them from this house." Unfortunately, nobody cared what he wanted happening in his house.

Olivia sat on the bed and put their child on the pillow next to her, shaking her head at her husband. “I happen to like both tomatoes and potatoes, both birth amazing things like ketchup and potato chips.” Both of which she thought were absolutely delicious.

“Asparagus on the other hand, oh my god, ew. Olivia made a face and shook her head. “Can we ban that from the house instead?” She smiled at her husband and his sunglasses that would take over the family if she wasn’t careful.

Asparagus? Ruki had never given that stuff any thought. "I've never eaten it, but it's odd looking. Like.. like tumors. So I don't really want to."

Not that he'd ever seen a tumor in his life, but from that moment on, he vowed to imagine all cancer patients with asparagus growing in their organs. Whether they appreciated that or not. Maybe he just wouldn't share it with them.

“They taste icky too!” Olivia curled up on the bed, beside Sou, curling up around her child who was already passed out, his arms flailing about with a goofy type of grin. She smiled at the child and then smiled up at her husband, her arms reaching out to him to pull him down to the bed as well, careful not to kill the baby.

“Now I’m going to dream of vegetables and it’s all your fault,” she said, play glaring at her husband and unable to keep in a giggle.

Ruki scrunched his face up. "I really hope that you don't." He sighed and crawled under the covers, tired as soon as his head hit the pillow. Classical conditioning, perhaps?

He turned to face her and kiss her. A quick, almost innocent kiss- as innocent as the two of them could get, at least.

"Let's enjoy this calm moment. Don't know how many more of them they'll be for a while." Certainly, things were going to get fucked up really soon- he wasn't sure how soon, exactly, but soon.
