[[Maya and Kumi]]
[[Maya's apartment]]
[[Maya tells Kumi the news]]
[[Rated G]]
It had been over a week since Kumi had last seen her boyfriend. Over a week since they had... The pretty brunette couldn't help blushing, shaking her head to rid thoughts from her mind.
Now certainly wasn't the time to be thinking about things like that?
A quick clearing of her throat and the small college girl was knocking gently on the front door of Maya's apartment.
"M-Maya?"
Maya looked tired and worn as he walked from Hiroto’s apartment down to his own to get the last of some things he forgot to pack away for the charity shop in the next town to take. He was so glad to find someone to take all the things because he didn’t know what he was going to do with them. All he wanted to keep was a photo book he made with pictures from all over the house. He couldn’t take much else.
When he walked down to his apartment door his heart stopped and he gasped, dropping his keys. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing. Why was Kumi here? What was he suppose to do? Turn around maybe? That would just be mean.
”H-hi Kumi-chan,” he barely managed to say.
A few moments and finally Kumi turned around, giving an almost embarressed smile to the taller blonde boy.
"Uh... Sorry. I didn't know you weren't home."
Next time, she most definatly had to call. But sometimes, she was just too fucking shy for that.
“Kumi can I talk to you?” He looked away from the girl knowing he was going to cry and moved to open the door to his apartment. There were boxes everywhere and the walls were bare. He went to sit in the front room and wait for the girl to sit next to him. He was focusing so hard on trying not to cry.
"Uhhhh..." The pretty brunette only stuttered, slowly following Maya into the strangly bare room, eyes barely taking in all the boxes.
Had she...
"Did I do something wrong?" Surely she must have.
The blonde shook his head and just reached to hold the girls hand. He kept his eyes toward the floor while his grip grew tighter. He was trying to avoid telling the girl this a little longer but there was no use in hiding things.
”Kumi…last week,” he began to sniffle. He paused for a moment to regain himself to finish his sentence. “My grandmother passed away.” The grip on the hand fluctuated as he felt himself trembling still trying to hold back tears. He had been crying so much recently he had to wonder if he’d ever run out of tears.
Died?
For a long moment, Kumi didn't know quite what to say. Just lest pretty brown eyes stare at the hand attached to her own.
"O-oh..." Tears sprung up in her own eyes, but she knew she was crying for both Maya and his grandmother, despite never having met her.
"I-m sososo sorry!" Arms wrapped tight around the blonde's body, trying to give any kind of comfort she could.
The boy let the girl hug him while he sat there letting the waterworks take effect. He had nothing to say. He couldn’t say ‘It’s okay’ because it really wasn’t okay. He was orphaned two times over and now he had to find some where to live and support himself. He constantly wondered if there was anyway his life could get worse.
For a long time, Kumi didn't move, didn't take her arms from being clutched so tightly around Maya's body.
But after a few minutes more, she finally pulled back to give the blonde a shakey frown.
"Are you moving now?" Where was Maya going?
“Y-yeah.” In a way anyway. He was scared to tell the girl that he really didn’t know where he was going to go once he left Hiroto and Shou’s apartment. He didn’t want the girl to worry anymore so he tried to force a small smile on his face.
”I’ll be okay.”
But of course Kumi worried. Boyfriend or not, the pretty brunette had a little problem that involved worrying about anyone and everyone. Regardless of the situation.
"Well... Where are you going?"
“Ah…to umm to a family friend’s house,” he lied, looking away from the girl. He felt horrible for doing so but what was he suppose to do? Tell the truth? That was something that was easier said than done.
"O-oh..."
Would she still be able to visit Maya there? She hoped to god so. Kumi didn't know what she would do if she was unable to see Maya again.
Cry, certainly.
"W-where is this house?"
“Uh….” Now he was in a bind. If he told some random address then the girl would surely go there and that would be embarrassing. He took a deep breath and exhaled shaking his head. “I’m sorry Kumi….There is no family friend. I umm..I don’t have anywhere to go.”
He looked at the girl half expecting her to slap him in the face at his lie. He looked up at the ceiling before looking back at the other. “I’m staying a few floors up at these guys house who helped me out. I was planning on leaving in a few days..”
Kumi was once again at a loss of what to say. What did one say to that? She couldn't even imagine...
"O-oh..."
Cetiantly not that.
She had to help Maya, she couldn't let him live on the streets, or with total strangers, or...
"Come stay with me."
Maya stared at his girlfriend, stunned with what to say. He had to accept but was he allowed to stay with her? She lived in an all girls sorority didn’t she?
”I umm…” He could feel the tears coming again. “Okay..”
A bright smile at that and Kumi was back to hugging Maya desperately.
"You can save money this way too!" Because never in a million years would she think of asking for money from anything.
She got enough money from her scholarship to support them both.
Hopefully.
“Thank you Kumi-chan..” he answered as he weakly hugged back. He was grateful to have such a caring girlfriend like Kumi and now she was basically saving his life. His grip around the girl tightened a little as he rested his head on her shoulder. He just wanted to hold her for a little while because when he did, everything seemed to be okay.
And Kumi could only smile more before drawing back just a little to shoot looks around the apartment.
"I don't think everything will fit in my room, but..."
Teeth dug into her bottom lip as the brunette tried to think of some place to store everything.
"We have a storage room no one uses... And if worse comes to worse I can rent a storage place..."
“It’s okay,” he replied as he pulled out of the hug as well. Looking around the room he sighed and pointed to a few of the items in the room. “Most of this stuff is going to charity. I can’t do anything with it. All I have is one suitcase with my clothes and stuff.”
He packed so light thinking he was going to be hoping from place to place often and didn’t want to try to lug house and home around with him.
Only one?
"Are you sure you don't want to bring more? It's no trouble at all." Her room wasn't huge, but it wasn't exactly small either.
Kumi really believed that she would have no trouble hiding Maya away in her room.
“It’s okay really,” he responded with a nod. All of his stuff basically fit in that one suitcase so it wasn’t a problem with him. The only other thing he had was his guitar case, he wasn’t about to let that go to charity. Now all he had to do was find a place for Fufu to go…Maybe he could stay with Hiroto and Shou. They seemed to like him.
”You’re doing enough with letting me stay. Thank you Kumi.”
Kumi gave a soft smile and nodded for a moment. "All right..."
Hands dug around in her purse before finally pulling out a silver key which she pressed into Maya's own hand.
"This is a key to the sorority house, okay?"
Maya held the key tightly as he looked from his hand to his girlfriend. A smile was returned to the girl before a quick kiss was placed on her lips. He looked away for a second before pocketing the key.
“I’ll be by later this week okay? I just have to finish up some stuff here.”
A short nod.
Kumi really didn't have any right to go to the funeral, considering she had never really meet the old woman, but that didn't mean she couldn't show some form of sympathy.
"I'll send flowers, okay?"
“Thank you. I’ll call you before I come over.” He stood to his feet and waited for the girl to follow so that he could walk her to the door. He still had some things to get together and he figured the girl wouldn’t want to help.
A small nod and Kumi was standing on her toes to give the much taller boy a quick kiss and a small smile.
"You'll call if you need help with anything, right?"
And she meant anything. It was what girlfriends were for, right?
