[Rurutia. Tsukasa Shirai]
[Their Aparment]
[PG]
[a little Joke.]

Tsukasa's head was pounding as he pushed the front door of his apartment open. It was just 9am, but he figured that was late enough for a confrontation- and one was necessary anyway, since he'd gone out for a morning jog as he always did, taken a bottle of water as he always did- only to find when he took a long swig that his throat had started to burn.

He didn't drink all that much, but he could recognize the taste of vodka when it came at him like a cannonball. Refrigerated alcohol nonetheless. Ugh.

And as far as he knew, he didn't own any of the foul liquid and water didn't just turn into liquor unless one was Jesus Christ, which he was not. And there was only one person who had access to his kitchen long enough when he wasn't looking to do this.

He wasn't truly rude, though- he didn't just go barging in her room as he should have. Rather, he knocked somewhat forcefully, not caring entirely if she was still asleep. "Yumiko!"

Rurutia had been practicing her sleight of hand when Tsukasa entered the apartment, yelling her name and knocking on the door. A giggle slipped out before she could stop it. How could she resist playing a trick on Tsukasa? He was so serious, but she knew there was a sense of humor underneath it all and she enjoyed pulling it out.

Letting herself compose her face, Rurutia opened the door and smiled innocently at her roommate. “Yes? Did you need something Tsukatchii?” Playing innocent was the most fun of all, though she never played it until the end because that was just mean!

That and she enjoyed letting people know she had done it.
Of course that had let herself to being put in detention every once and a while. Most teachers hadn’t cared toooo much though.

She'd done it- he knew she had. He could just tell. And he wasn't so much mad as he was perplexed as to why she would do that to him. There really wasn't a reason to do cruel things to others...

Unless she was mad at him?

"Hi there," he said, leaning against her doorframe and folding his arms. "I noticed something interesting today and was wondering if you could offer me an explanation, being a magician and all. See, it seems someone turned my water into alcohol. Gave me quite a surprise." A smile, a tilt of the head. "So what's the special secret behind that?"

Rurutia gasped. Opening her door wider and stepping back so Tsukasa could come in if he wanted. Though… he did look rather hot leaning against the doorway like that. “Well it seems that you have been blessed by Jesus!” Rurutia’s smile grew wider and she was having a harder time keeping all her laughter inside.

As long as Tsukasa didn’t take it seriously all would be fine!

“Magicians can do a lot, you see, but we haven’t quite perfected that trick yet,” she continued, unable to hold back a small chuckle.

Oops

If she thought there was any chance at all that he believed her then she would have to be seriously foolish. So she wanted to drag it out? Fine, whatever.

...But why?

"I guess I must have. Funny, you'd think Jesus would realize that water went better with exercise than alcohol..."

He glanced around her room for the evidence, hoping to speed this up. Once she admitted it then it would be much less tiring than it was right then.

The magician noticed him glancing around and followed his eyes, when they zeroed in on a certain something, she began to laugh. “Well, uh, how did that get here? Jesus must have done that too!” Rurutia walked over to the bottle of vodka. She picked it up and swished it around in the bottle. She sat on the bed with it in her hand and stared up at him innocently.

“Silly western Jesus!” Rurutia was having a very hard time keeping a straight face, she was definetly admitting it to him a moment though, she had dragged it out enough to satisfy herself.

Tsukasa’s words were fun to battle anyway, a little less boring than, YOU DID THAT!

And there it was. Tsukasa sighed, smiling dryly at her. This was obviously her idea of funny and something about the way she was acting told him that he better get used to it.

Oh, well. Living with her would certainly never be boring, to say the least. Especially if she'd actually go out and buy liquor just to fuck with him.

"That Jesus. Trying to turn both of us into raging alcoholics. I thought drunkenness was a sin."

“Mhmm,” Rurutia replied, taking a sip of the Russian liquid. Maybe she wouldn’t have to admit it with words? “You could always get back at Jesus, I’m sure he wouldn’t mind, might even think it’s fun.” Her eyes were dancing with mischief. No one ever played jokes on her.

And it was about time someone started.
Anyway, it would give her an actual excuse to do things to her roomie without him being raging mad.

“And don’t worry, I won’t tell him you’re doing it,” the magician girl continued winking as she finished her sentence.

"I dunno about that." Tsukasa had never been one to play jokes on people. He couldn't remember the last time he had, in fact.

...Maybe it was time to learn, though, lest he get crushed by her.

"I'm not to good at that sort of thing. But we'll see." Surely one of the people he hung out with regularly would know a few things he could do? Something harmless, just a little revenge from time to time.

Rurutia smiled brightly and put the vodka down. She hopped over to Tsukasa and hugged him (a rather open gesture even for an Osakan girl). “Awesome! It’ll be ton of fun, I promise and I promise never to do anything that would actually hurt you.” The girl smiled sweetly at him.

She was telling the truth, she didn’t want him to be hurt, she had gotten somewhat close to the man she was rooming with.

“Oh, and I promise to contain myself until you initiate anything!” It sounded like her promise to her boyfriend involving sex… … she was a curious person, what could she say?

Tsukasa went slightly rigid, having not really expected her to hug him. Even if he wanted to he could never be half as open as she was. He'd never really met anyone like her before.

And sometimes it was a little too much for his chosen lifestyle, but most of the time it was pretty refreshing. She certainly stood out in a crowd.

"Well, aren't you sweet." A slight smirk. "You could've killed me today, though, all things considered. I felt pretty sick for a minute there."

Rurutia laughed. “Hey! I didn’t put too much in there, not enough to kill you for sure and not enough to make you close to being drunk. I didn’t want you running in front of a car accidently and getting the news about it later today.” She smiled at him and bounced back on her bed.

“I used to drink a lot, but not so much anymore, been so busy, haven’t had time for partying.” It was true, luckily she had never been much of a heavy drinker, so weaning off of the vile substance was relatively easy.

"I was quite surprised," he insisted. And he had been, as anyone usually was when they were expecting purified water and got something vile instead.

She had been a heavy drinker?
...He couldn't imagine it.

"I can't imagine you as a party girl, somehow." She seemed a lot smarter than that, really. "But it's cool. I'm just a social drinker." And barely even that, because every time he had a small sip of alcohol he swore to God he could hear his liver complain.

“Well in Osaka, most of my friends were rich, because I had gotten into a expensive school for High School and they did enjoy their partying. They were a sweet bunch though, so I never really held it against them, and I do enjoy to dance.” Rurutia laughed as she danced around waist up to give visual aids to this point.

“But yes, surprised was the reaction I was going for, I love playing innocent pranks on people and you seemed like you had a sense of humor deep down,” the magician girl said, smiling brightly. She hoped Tsukasa would take it as a compliment, because she had meant it as one.

Peer pressure- simple enough. He nodded along as she spoke. Pretty typical nowadays- and she seemed like she'd just barely gotten out of high school maybe a year or two ago.

"I do have a sense of humour, I guess?" Hopefully. He considered himself pretty apathetic and not easily angered. It would take a lot more than a bit of alcohol in his water to make him angry... or any harmless prank. "I won't get mad, I can promise you that. So have your fun, I guess. Wouldn't want to deny you the privilege."

Rurutia laughed and smiled. She stood up again to poke his nose on the way out to the kitchen to eat. “You do have a sense of humor, it’s different than mine, but it’s there and I quite enjoy it! And thanks for letting me have my little fun.” She winked, smiling brightly and marched to go make some ramen for dinner.

She was really glad fate had led her to rooming with Tsukasa, because he had turned out to be so much better than her feminist mind had thought.

The magician girl was very, very glad of that.

A small snort. "I don't think I've ever seen a sense of humour like yours..." It was more like a mature, clever 8 year old's. And those didn't exist, so she was pretty fucking special. Cool to be around, for sure.

He could've done a lot worse.

"You're welcome. Even if I didn't let you you'd do it anyway so might as well avoid conflict." That was turning out to surprisingly easy.

“I am offended you would assume that,” she replied, turning around so she was walking backwards through the hall towards her goal. Rurutia smiled at him and laughed again. “If you had said to not do that, I would have been very put out, but would have not done it again. Today was testing waters.”

And it had been.

“Now do you want some of the ramen I’m making? It’s not the instant kind and I happen to be good at mixing vegetables and meat just right to make it absolutely delicious!” Working at a restaurant had many advantages.

Well, as long as it wasn't instant. "Sure, that sounds nice. Thanks." He really needed a shower, but since she hadn't complained about him smelling yet, it could wait. It had been a while since someone else had made food.

A really long while.

And he kind of wanted to get to know more about her, because it was interesting- and it was good to know things about the person one was sharing an apartment with.

“Alrighty then!” Rurutia got to the kitchen and got out supplies. She looked at the clock and then smiled brightly.

“BEGIN OPERATION RAMEN FOR BREAKFAST!!!” She yelled out into the house laughing.

If only everything was as easy as getting along with Tsukasa.
