There was a ship called the Pax Magellanic, leftover from before the fall. When we encountered her, her commanding officer was anxious to take on another captain. [He isn't aware that the Andromeda went through the exact same scenario with Dylan in charge.] Her crew was loyal and effective. The commanding officer told us that

Some of them. Of course, our androids don't have any organic material. But they're much like the staff in that they seem to follow a directive imparted by the ship.

The OE bots have a similar sensitivity but they're used less.

All Commonwealth ships were. Only occasionally did they have an avatar that could represent it, however.

All of us only received credits for our necessities, and standard health and housing for our families. They were provided with maintenance and didn't require housing. [Sometimes they were the housing.]

After the Fall, no one was paid at all.

I can understand it if you feel as though you should have done more, but you did quite a bit. Survival is an accomplishment worthy of recognition, especially under those circumstances.
