Since it's the holidays and I'm going to try and get off early today, I was wondering if-

[There's a terrible rattle and a crash. And a childish giggle. Someone let their munchkin take the bottom pack from a soda display, and now there's a hissy sticky disaster happening.]

Well...

I was, but I believe my boss will want to stay later now. I can't really leave him alone with a mess like this. That wouldn't be very nice of me.

Everyone is enthusiastic at Christmas, I guess. And don't always pay attention.

[Looking on the bright side of things is depressing when faced with 20 fountains of soda squirting in the air thanks to busted cans.]

I guess we're going to be staying a little later than usual after work. [He probably shouldn't be saying "than usual", considering his boss's work ethic.]
