The family drove away just after 8 this morning. The house has been busy and noisy and a bit chaotic for the last few days, and now it's quiet and empty. Since they left I've swept most of the floors, washed and hung out a load of sheets and towels, and been for a run during which I checked the mail (and brought home a handful of letters

I had to chuckle when I read that at nine kids consider themselves too cool for playgrounds. They grow up so fast.

I think part of the problem is she's very tall for her age so a lot of the equipment is just too small for her and not challenging enough.

It sounds like over all things went pretty well. Poor Violet, though. Growing up and wanting to do more grown-up things. It's tough being the oldest.

I'm glad you had a good visit with them.
