Another day, another stupid thing I did, but this time only my pride and my wallet were hurt. A couple of weeks ago my gas bill arrived, with the due date being 4th November. Well, that's not stupid either. Neither of us has been thinking very clearly for some time now and for obvious reasons. I hope it gets straightened out quickly. Can you not explain to the gas company what happened?

It's just the gas company requiring payment in cash, then? How ridiculous.

Yes, I guess there has been some brain fog in action lately.

I suspect the gas company just has policies and procedures they have to follow.

I don't really understand why the payment has to be in cash - surely a debit card would work just as well? But they didn't give that as an option.

What the heck! This seems like a crazy way to do things. Even if you didn't have enough money to pay the bill, the solution is to make it even HARDER to pay the bill??

Apparently. Plus, if you don't have enough money to pay the bill on time, they will charge you more money that you can't afford.

I love automatic payments - if I've managed to set them up correctly. This is the first time I've messed up.

I learned the same thing about supposed autopay options. I'm even more attentive now that I'm trying to build up my credit rating in a new country.
