I might have been tempted to skip parkrun again this morning, except that we (all parkrunners who are on the email list) had had an email a couple of days ago saying there would be about 200 people attending today (about double our usual number) and we should plan on arriving slightly earlier than usual to allow for extra time to find parking. I'll bet it was a bit chaotic with a bunch of young boys all over the place. I worked in a building that also housed the local HQ for Girls On The Run. I thought it was a great idea.

Those boys were just all over the place!

That seems like a big group for a parkrun!
I've had the experience of running with children in a group and it's not fun. I used to run the Gator Gallup every year at the University of Florida's Homecoming. I lived near campus so I didn't have to drive to get there. I just walked over the start. (And this was back in my long distance running days.) It was a 3 mile run, and the kids were massively unpredictable, so I would always run it at a really low speed to keep from crashing into anyone!

I was planning to walk yesterday because I knew there would be extra people there, but I ended up just running more slowly than usual.
Up to about 200 participants isn't really very big for a parkrun. Ours, averaging under 100, is one of the smaller local ones. In Australia and the UK they can have hundreds of participants. In fact, Bushy Park parkrun in the UK, home of the first ever parkrun, usually has up to about 1500 hundred people attending.

Wow! I didn't know that. I guess I'm used to the group runs here in Florida which were always around 40 or 50. Things have changed since I could run. I really miss it. I'm glad you can still do it and enjoy it!
