I completely agree with you about modern culture not necessarily "ruining" childhood. I think that every older generation complains about the bad influence of new technology on the younger generation. For us it was TV and "talking on the phone too long." My parents regulated the amount of time we had to watch TV, and how long we talked with our friends on the phone. How we monitor screen time and social media access is no different. I'm sure my grandparents thought the same about my parents and restricted some new fangled thing! But we all have grown up and survived!
